Hi all

Little bit of progress on Crystal. Got the roof sanded down and another coat of resin applied. Also primed the boards ready for first top coat of engine main colour.

Shock horror. I ad to pick up a paint brush!

Been doing the roof edge.

The colour match looks good.

Looking better now the fascia has a coat of paint. What are you going to do will all your spare time when complete.

Big question that Rob.

Did a test steaming this morning. Just a couple pictures and a video clip.



The hinged roof really does work well.

Roof is finished



Some dust in it but tough!

Also got the flywheel brass ring fitted.



Looks really nice.

Also filed a rebate on the bottom of the extension chimney to allow it to fit into the top of the chimney. That is now painted and waiting for the paint to set. The leather straps for the chimney are also now on the roof.

Quite a busy morning.

Can I ask how you fixed your black and white diagonal lined sheet behind the gauge glass??

Its a bit of tin plate painted. It has a notch top and bottom that allow it to hook over the fittings.
If you want I can take a closer picture tonight for you?

Waiting for my new toy to arrive. Vinyl cutting plotter for making the stencils for the sign-writing on the engine.

Oooohh, Lynn, I might "bug you" to to do some for me (Of course I'm happy to pay or contribute to your costs!!)
I'll watch closely to see how you get on

Thanks Lynn, that would be good if you can get at it with everything else in the way!!

The diagonal stripe backing is only really useful with a plain gauge glass, but it does stop some of the smoke getting to the protector, but then it makes the protector more difficult to remove to clean it.

I will be changing to clear glass when the one fitted breaks!

Plotter arrived and first indications are good. Fit for purpose!

Used an item of clip art as a test. The width is about 2mm

what one did you go for? I've seen julia over on TT's efforts and it gives a superb job for the lining!
