Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Hi all
Well got 1/2 an hour in the engine shed today so got a start on the traction wagons.
There is an ISO drawing around but I can not currently find it.
Found it.
Progress.
The obvious unpack the box. Goodies to play with. Got the wheel rims cleaned up ready for filler and primer.
Now onto the spokes.

Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
All the best with cleaning the wheel spokes. I always find this task hard going and a bit of a bore but the idea of seeing your traction engine pulling two of these wagons is going to be fantastic. I have got two of the earlier 4” scale wagons, one of which I have converted into a living van and these have always been admired on rally fields. However having only just seen the plans of your wagons these look absolutely brilliant.

Hi Bill
I even enjoy the cleaning and preparation work as well as the building. I find it very relaxing even a task that may be repeated 100 times as long as it has a good purpose at the end.

Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Though I would try and fill in the middle a bit more.
Still to do the rivets on the rim so only a couple bolts. Things look like they will line up nicely as per normal procedure.

Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Got some progress today.
All 4 front wheels are assembled, had to tread 2 spoke holes in 2 hubs and I have 2 stuck rivets needing removing and the holes drilled. I used the 2 hour araldite and what a difference not having it set off on you all the time. I also pasted under the spoke at the rim to keep out the water.
Getting nephewed tomorrow for a few days so that will slow things down.

Rear wheel kits are new in stock. Need to get down town for more wire brushes and sanding disks before I get to cleaning them ready for assembly.

Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Have you decided on the finish yet....paint or stain? and will the colour be the same as Crystal and her bowser?
Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Hi Rob
I think the metal will be in keeping with the overall livery. The wood I am thinking stain and a hard wearing varnish.

Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Hi everyone.
Sorry for the lack of updates. Not been very well. I have the rear wheel kits in stock for 4 weeks now. Shocking is it not?
Just a note for everyone. Don't buy Draper sanding disks for grinders. They are absolutely trash.

But they are great for sand blasting!!
Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Hi Ho
Well the Chassis for the wagon arrived yesterday. The wood looks good but I hope you all like filing and sanding. I have only 1 mortise joint that actually fitted together first time. Every other joint needs work done to it. Ho Hum.
