Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Since it is trying very hard to snow! I though some time in the garage today. Was going to test steam Crystal but not with horizontal rain and snow!
Couple weeks ago I got the first chassis all glued and screwed. Creating a very strong frame. Now been building the undercarriage and it is going together well.
The front wheels are actually the second wagons rears, so bit too big but gives the idea.
And a view down with this trailer on its wheels.

Looks like you're making excellent progress Lynn. I've just got my latest wagon kits & like you, the weather has "driven" me inside, so I might go & play!!

Hi Tony.
Thanks. Although I have done both kits of wheels ie 8 wheels. All my fronts are away for rubber grinding to get them to the correct thickness. I have only done one kit for the woodwork. The other is still in its box.

No wood glue or varnish yet.
End bracket
Fitting the hinges
End supports in the brackets
End woodwork put in place. And the floor. The floor planks need 1mm trimmed off to fit properly.
Mocked up using masking tape

Well after lots of hole drilling and bolt inserting. All the brackets and hinges are fitted.
It did not look much different to last night so I put the water bowser behind it for tonight's picture.

Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Second wagon in production
Getting the springs on. The rear springs to stop them coming out. I moved the crossmember in by 10mm
4 hours work to rolling chassis
They also stack nicely. So no excuse to have two!
Going out to the local 10" railway. Ness Island Railway.
Should be back on the wagon this evening and tomorrow.

You be careful with that choice of open toe footwear, You don't want to do what I did and end up in hospital over Christmas with a broken foot
Progress looks good though.

Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Varnish time!
The chassis for the first wagon assemble quite a while ago will need some rubbing down before varnish as ts a bit grubby with being moved about a lot.

Re: Lynn Robinson. 4" traction Wagon. Twins. "Mara" and "Uisge"
Progress progress. Actually reassembling for the final time
Turntables and spring hangers
All stored in the engine shed to harden off before metal on metal assembling.
Still got the springs to clean and chemical blacken and then its the wheels to be primed and painted main engine colour to match.
All in all excellent progress this weekend.
Dinner, relax. Then splish splash time for a bath!
