Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Please find the start of my thread as it has been split for some reason. If you want the full build. My build was started in Sept 2010.
Start of thread.
More stickers and paint. It has been a very productive and enjoyable day.
Again waiting for paint to dry.

Ditto to Tonys post Lynn but can you expand on the significance of the name for those of us down under who don't know.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
H
Hi showman
The full story.
My engine is named Crystal in honour of my sisters still born back in 2009.
The company name on the roof.
D.J. Robinson is my departed brother. Died 1980. He had just qualified as a chief so that gives the twist on CATERERS. In the old days caterers were providers of services. Hence chief - caterer.
All electric amusements. My brother use to be a disc jockey for a quite successful disco.
So the company name embeds the essence of my brother.
D.J.Robinson Caterer of the all electric amusements.
So the memory of departed family members will live on. Oh forgot. The trailers are named after my two dogs.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Far quicker than drawing it, transferring with chalk and sigh-writing the old way. Looks great as well, a lovely job. I can see a queue of Showmans Engines forming on your drive for use of the printer / cutter. Now that would be a road run.
Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Hi Rob
Yes indeed. It was a bit of a gamble purchasing the cutter and materials. But boy oh boy it has worked out so well. I do not think I will be doing shadows etc as my hand skill is not good enough at the small scale we are working at. I did do some traditional sign writing back in 91 when I did a picture of the Vulcan bomber on the bonnet of my car.
I did do an experiment using a stencil to "paint" the sizing on a book to try the gold leafing. It also worked very well.
by the way. Road loco's and any other steam vehicle are always welcome on my drive.

Lynn Robinson Showmans Scenic
Morning Lynn,
Looking good well done Lynn the lettering and scrolls really set off your canopy.
Will you be taking the engine to Pickering rally next year?.
Steve.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Not sure where I will be going next year. Lost a couple events up in Scotland so technically available for other events but work is up in the air a bit so not sure what I will be doing for work next summer.

That is the front finished for the fine arty bits. Just thinking of doing a pinstripe along the edges to finish off the roof.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
I could do some shadow stencils. It would take a huge amount of time and risks the main artwork. I also very much like the gold effect just as it is.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Lynn,With your talants maybe you should consider giving up your day job and constructing STW engines on commission for STW customers full time with of course an appropriate build thread for each customer. The time involved with these builds is huge and some owners with time constraints and the necessary cash (and lots of it) may wish to enjoy the end result without the responsibility of the build.Just a thought anyway.Shane

Once you have the letters the shadow should be easy to paint in with a small brush, but you would need to find a suitable font first.

Crystal is feeling more cozy. In her firebox she has
60w heater 1ft long
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00408OB1W/ref=ox_ya_os_product
And under her with thermostats.
1mtr long pair of 120w heaters
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009HQMCEU/ref=oh_details_o01_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Her cover is on as well to create a little heat tent.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
While the artwork is setting. Thought I would do some more painting of the underside. All clean ready for some more undercoat.

Some more painting. Needed a fix!
Think I have enough undercoat for another 2 coats.
