Very professional Lynn. The gold paint was worth all the grief in the end. Are you contemplating any more "art work " on your engine? Always enjoy reading about your projects on the forum.Kind regards and best wishes for the festive season.

Thanks Steve and Shane.
Not sure. May put something on the front top of the main dynamo. It has been a very enjoyable time doing all the painting.
How's your engines doing Shane and Steve?

I have just finished water proofing the tender.Messy job but I used disposable overalls (used by car painters) worked a treat and they cost only a few dollars.Hopefully painting and pinstriping of tender will be finished mid jan and will put some photos up on my build thread then.

Started putting Crystal back together after her winter inspection.
Got the replacement retaining pins for the drive pins fitted.
And a view of her going back together

Hi Tony and everyone.
To be honest I have not touched the brass since October steam test.
Actually got out the garage this morning and got the seat frame modified to a stronger foot rest. Also fabricated a much longer handle on the shovel so I can stoke while on the seat. Doh forgot a picture.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Less than 2 weeks to first steam of 2014. Crystal is getting quietly excited for the coming season. She is getting a visit from my nephew weekend of the 21st. So she needs to get up out of bed Dressed and have some exercise before he gets here.
Also starting to plan and design her trailer accommodation modifications. Having had a season, the trailer needs some mods to make things slicker and quicker. Going with a framed canvas cover over the trailer, replacing the mechanical winch with an electric one. Also making the trailer work as the living quarters when at events so I do not require a grass area to pitch the tent and save time putting up and taking down the tent. Gets me back off the ground as well.
The event calendar is getting busy. Unfortunately only 1 event out of 5 less than 5 hours drive away and that is 3 hours. This is part of the reason for wanting to get the setup and takedown of the camp quicker.
I hope to have some new pictures of Crystal all lipstick and mascara in, hopefully, sunshine very soon.
Well suppose I better get out the pit and head to the gulag for the day.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
looks very professional lynn .Wish I could weld. Does your winch have the remote control option? I have this option on mine and whilist abit of a gimmick I find it useful (as long as it turns off when its supposed to).

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Hi shane
Wish I could weld as well. I do try.
 Â
Yes I have remote. I use to have one on my Motorsport recovery unit and it was great. The garage winch has one for single hand hoisting of Crystal and her pram up the 1:6 drive.

Professional job there Lynn. Looks the business. What trailer is that ? I'll have to invest in a suitable trailer as the time comes.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Hi all
Not the engine but her pram.
Te steel arrived a few weeks ago but the weather was very wet to say the least topped off with a strong wind.
Today was much better and I got some work done on the trailer conversions. Got most of the frame for the travel cover and trailer tent.
It's a case of weld it all together. Make splice brackets and cut the frame up to allow dismantlement.

More excellent progress today.
The frame is now complete. Just to cut it up now and fit the joints, clean up the welds and finish any welds that are not so good.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Hi everyone.
Good news. Good news!
Regulator modification installed. Waiting for JB weld to cure off for a test steam.
Jig installed as per instructions.
Drill ready in the jig
Watch your chuck on the bolt.
Oops.
Gone fishing
Swab please nurse. Get everything degreased.
Plate fitted with JB weld underneath
New puck installed after flattening. Spent 3 hours on 400grit wet n dry. It got to the point where the slightest smear of water held the two parts together.
Regulator in the open position.
The opening is good. She had plenty power before with the two stage setup. Now she will have lots more.
Once the test steam is done, no later than tomorrow and after reporting back to Steam Traction World. The kit will be released.
When you get the kit. Please do quickly so the jig can be passed on to the next in line.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Excellent post Lynn, look forward to seeing how you get on with the mod when in steam!
Are there going to be any fixings other than JB Weld to hold plate in position?
Regards,
Tony

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Hi Tony
There is a coller on the underside which engages with the steam port. So no movement possible.
Crystals pram winch wired up. Still to test at an event before cutting wires and fixing fully
Snatch block used to allow correct spooling with the offset caused when loading Crystal.
