Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Nice to see Chrystal earning her keep, and flexing her muscles, very impressive.
Can you tell me the specification and length of wire rope you have fitted?
I think “Lord Darby” might have to prove his prowess in the future so as not to let the fancy showman’s get all the limelight.

Hi.
I will have a look at the receipts and let you know. It is always good to have a winch wire as it also allows you to self recover when stuck on that muddy rally field.

Nice to get out again I bet. Looking forward to having Crystal down here in Lancashire again and I might have to take her to Heskin Hall while your home between Chipping and the birthday Bash. I am missing having Blackbeard available now the weather is better but it will be worth it eventually.

Hi All
A friend sent me a couple of nice pictures of Crystal. The originals are 8634x5979! So I had to down scale them somewhat.

Hi all
Found a shot of Crystal on FB from Castle Fraser last weekend. Between the heavy rain on Sunday.
There is a young steersman by the name of Patrick Lees in the left seat.

Maintenance time. She developed a knocking at the weekend. So while I am at it. Change piston and regulator gland packing.

Looks like the LP slide valve. Bit too loose on its shaft in the valve chest. Just need to nip up the two locking nuts a bit closer.
Also found the LP piston has unwound itself a tad. Just trying to get the piston rod out the slide block.

As others, nice to see a bit of maint. going on, where do you get your gland packing from, just I know mine will need doing soon on the agri's valve and regulator as they are getting a little whispy.
Also a demo of your cornflake gasket making would be handy I feel, as I think it was yourself that said thats all you use

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic Part 2
Hi all
Been out in Crystal's bedroom again.
Starting to fit items back on.
Gasket making cheapskate style.
Ingredients. Cornflake packet, scissors and crafts knife.
Cut a section that is slightly big. Cut a cross in the bolt holes.
Push bolts thro to make holes and hold cardboard in place for next operation.
Using scissors cut round the profile. Right handed scissors go anti clockwise. Then the cut is closer to the profile.
Then cut out the inside.
The valve cover.
Same idea
Oil the gasket on to the cover to hold it.
Line up one hold and push through the gasket.
This cuts all the bolt holes in one go.
Then cut the hole out by cutting against the casting. Only cutting on the downward stroke so you do not life.
Bolt cover on
The complete job accomplish in 5 minutes.

Thanks Lynn, useful tips on the cornflake gasket I have tried myself but ten to end up with bolt holes in the wrong place so will try your method next time.
Best wishes

Fantastic Lynn and actually far easier than I was expecting, I was thinking of using hole punches etc but your method is far simpler
