Hi Tony
Yes good day had. The woodwork came together very well. The cut and fit is first class as we have grown to expect.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic
Nice work as usual Lynn, first up with the pictures.
Did you pin any of the cross members during assembly?
Regarding the wind comments (phnar, phnar!!) I am sure that if you have the roof open on a windy day there will be enough sail surface area to do some damage to your roof or supports if your not carefull - one to watch for especially up in the top of Scotland no doubt.
Cheers
Brian

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic
Hi Brian
Everything is just glue at the moment. Going to see how stiff it gets and may just reinforce with some screws and filled over to hide if it flexes very much. But just as a frame it is actually quite stiff and once the roof planks are on I think it will be stiffer.

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic
Hi Lynn,
At the moment, I've just polished the brass & may shape the very ends where they touch the "finial" bit, so the corners don't overlap, but the brass looks so good as is, I don't think I'll bother to round off the corners all the way up!!................. Just unpacked the main ribs & started to fix them in place...............I'll probably put pics up later, but they will only be the same as you've already put up for Crystal!!
Regards,
Tony

Managed to get out to Crystal today. Fitted the ring main.
Spent a hour last night soldering the wires onto the springs instead of just twisted.

Got all the lamp holders glued into the wood and the front arches fitted. Ran out of clamps.

Lights all fitted
I think she is looking good.
Roof boards all on to get effect
The golden shot
I am thinking of going very light green or just varnish to keep the brightness up?
What do you think?

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic
Well I have plumbed for some paint for the canopy.
Burrell Canopy Green with suitable undercoat from Craftmaster. Should arrive by Thursday so should be able to report by the weekend on how it looks.
Still not decided on what colour to do the "barge"? boards. I might be incorrect but they are often the main colour of the engine or black.
Anyone?

Hi Lynn,
Looking extremely smart.
Are the bulbs standard vehicle side lights because you may be able to replace them with LED ones which would draw a lot less power, but may look odd in the styling dept!

Canopy colours and lettering
Hi Lynn
Your engine is looking brilliant now it has its canopy and lights......take a look at www.burrellscenic.weebly.com for inspiration from the original lettering to the preservation styles.
The lettering is going to be fun.....vinyl masks?

Re: Lynn Robinson. Showman Scenic
I have used Bedazzled for LED lights for a narrowboat and been very happy with the products and service. The BA15S-15LB about 2/3 of the way down the page looks a potential option. But at £7 a piece it is sharp intake of breath territory.
The firm is close to Daventry.
