Re: Andy's 4"dcc road loco
Looking good.
Just a reminder. Check clearance for crank second interfering with second shaft first. This is a very tight area.

The gears look like they're made of plastic! Pretty heavy plastic though...

Belly tank
Been busy at the weekend putting belly tank together have to say not as bad as I thought . So here's the problem the holes for the breather are wrong to iso drawing and the breather tubes fall straight threw . Also they should be at the back of belly tank . I'll give stw a ring tomorrow.

Belly tank
Spoke to stw today about the holes and they where willing to pick belly tank up and fix the problem thanks guys. But rather than send it back I'm going to weld up the holes myself I've already drilled out new holes and tapped the for the breathers .

Re: Andy's 4"dcc road loco
Wow, that's good! You obviously know what you're doing.............. I've never got into arc welding & I don't have oxy-acetylene which I could use............ I was looking at an advert in Old Glory & wondering if I could teach myself to use arc welding gear, I could really get to fabricate some goodies then!!

Mig is much easier. Did arc in the dockyard in Portsmouth. I have a unit. Tig is soo much harder but fantastic results when you master it.

Sparyed belly tank today. It will be a shame to light a fire when it's finshed.

Re: Andy's 4"dcc road loco
Not looking bad for your first attempt at spraying!!! You should have considered it for a job!! At least if you have a really good finish it might be easier to keep clean, although as you have seen it doesnt really matter as it is continuously covered in oil to which everything sticks to anyway.
Trust me I'll come over and light a fire in it for you!!

Re: Andy's 4"dcc road loco
I was hoping you could just pull me round the rallies . That way I've only got to clean one engine.

Thanks Tim. Now for the lining going to leave cleading/belly tank for two weeks to harden. Hopefully it will all be lined and fitted for Banbury .

Re: Andy's 4"dcc road loco
Better bring a pole if you want me to pull you around, not doing that with my hands.
Re: Andy's 4"dcc road loco
Super paint job Andy, look forward to seeing you at Banbury - will Kevin be with you too?

Re: Andy's 4"dcc road loco
I will but we don't come as a pair despite what my wife seems to say!!!! I have offered her any rally she wants to attend but she's always busy with something can't really understand why
Re: Andy's 4"dcc road loco
Spooky that my wife just doesn't understand.

Re: Andy's 4"dcc road loco
Well, all I can say is I must be extremely lucky - my wife just drove 380 mile round trip for me yesterday so that I could have my belly tank back from Nick and picked up my cylinder block on the way (or rather it was put in the car for her). For those that know, my wife has many health issues and to do what she did yesterday really means something. She always, enjoys the rallies when she is feeling OK although last year it was not so often due to new complications setting in. If you can convince your wives to attend I can guarantee that we don't just talk engines all night, the subject matter does vary
The reason she did this is that I am trying to get everything fitted in time for the Chipping rally this weekend, it wont be in steam but at least it will be complete with steering this time so if someone has a push pole they can give me a tow to the pub. Steam test now scheduled for 1st June.
See you both at Banbury.

Pretty useful, these wives aren't they?
Mines having some heavy engineering on her foot today.
Won't be at Banbury, but looks like a good do.
