GENERAL PRODUCTION UPDATE: February 2014
OK, a quick look at what we are doing this month.
first up is BU4inch agricultural kit 20. this is on the packing bench and is nearly ready to go with just a few items left to make. this one has crept up on me to be honest as most of it has been made over the last few months as "fill in jobs" without me even realizing. not sure when its due to go but i'll let you know when i hear something...
the BU4inch SCC kit 8 is awaiting delivery of laser cuts. i'll get more info on this when they arrive.
just an interesting photo and a quick look at the foden cylinders from the end of last month/start of this month...
6inch foden crankshafts are being worked on at the moment. im not sure when these are planned to go out...
foden boilers are progressing. 4 inch internals going in...
and Harry is just preparing to cut out the 6inch boiler barrels...
the main focus in the machine shop this week has been the kit1's on the new batch of fodens, the chassis.
the good thing about this kit is that we have recently produced it for the last batch so it's all fresh in our minds and is progressing well.
4inch chassis rails...
6inch rails on the CNC...
we had to modify the machine to get them to fit...
machining is done on the cross members...
and rivet bolts...
and we are working through the various brackets...
more details as and when i get them

Hi Craig
You said "the BU4inch SCC kit 8 is awaiting delivery of laser cuts. i'll get more info on this when they arrive." is there any update on this?
Will we get kit 8 soon and then another kit at the end of the February or have with lost a month?
Regards
Stephen

Kit 5 second rear wheel is currently in the welding bay, it then has to progress to the vulcanisers before coming back to me, to go to you.

February DCC Road loco kit....
Buenas tardes.
When will the 2nd rear wheel kit be ready for shipping?
And is the next kit due end of this month - sorry I know you've lots of orders to satisfy but just trying to keep the momentum going, going to be the smoke-box?
cheers.

Re: GENERAL PRODUCTION UPDATE: February 2014
I was told we'd be getting a kit - Horn-plates and spectacle plate before today but alas the man in the white van he no show up.... Doh.
I don't know what everyone else thinks but I'd rather see separate production updates for each batch of models - Foden 6", DCC & Showmans etc, that way each group of builders can see how things are going and which kit is due out of STW next for their build, just a couple of lines of info' would probably be enough.
I'm sure we all except that from time to time the 5 axis machining centre will throw a shoe, or a supplier will let you down etc which throws out the production schedule and we may get a different kit to one the we were expecting, when it gets to the 20th of the month most of us are looking forward to getting our hands on a parcel to tear open within the next few days, so the sooner we can be told of any delays or changes to the order of kits the better.
The above is just a suggestion not a rant, I hope things get back on track soon.
ttfn.
