Showman's rear wheel rims !!!!
we have now made a start on the rear wheel rims for the showman.
these will have a very long lead time as they need to be drilled, rolled, welded, drilled and vulcanised
this is the basic material...
these have just gone on the machine to be cut to length and drilled, due to their size we hare working within 20mm of the maximum travel of the machine.
i forgot to take a photo of the drilling op but i'll get one next Tuesday

here's the photos of these on the CNC.
and after drilling...
just processing a little video clip of the machine in operation so you can see now much "travel" we are using

Re: Showman's rear wheel rims !!!!
I darent ask having had a close look at Viv Kirks ex showmans at the weekend and seeing there are FIVE! rivets per spoke but what going in all those holes!!!!!!!!!! Glueing and doing up hundreds of fixings no doubt!! Yippee!!!

Re: Showman's rear wheel rims !!!!
i believe the holes are just for dummy rivets. the large row of holes are for plug welding.
i'll post updates at every stage and hopefully all will become clear
should be able to find some j-pegs on the system tomorrow

Re: Showman's rear wheel rims !!!!
The wheels will look truly excellent with the dummy rivets between the T rings. This area can look quite empty, as it is on the agricultural TE: it would be even more obvious on the SRL with it's bigger wheels. Are they the same width as the TE?

Re: Showman's rear wheel rims !!!!
Any news on what might be the next kit and progress on it? It seems to have gone disappointingly quiet just of late.

Re: Showman's rear wheel rims !!!!
casting delays have caused to current problems. as stated elsewhere Steve how has the design to a point where we can produce the horn plates with confidence so we may be doing these next.
we could make and dispatch anything you like if you are happy to take a risk on it being wrong/useless

Next kit
The Irish have a saying:
"When the Lord made time, he made plenty of it"
We can see from the Forum that everyone at STW is working at 100% to get the kits out to everyone.
Keep up the good work!

Re: Showman's rear wheel rims !!!!
well we always keep ourselves busy with something
mark is currently working on lyka kit 2 and 3
Lee U is turning lyka wheel hubs and 2 inch wagon filler caps
I'm working through stock and ordering material for the next foden Kit and lyka kit 6 (lots to do in that kit so need to get on with it)
Ian is wielding 2inch wagon water tanks
Lee M is working on 2 inch boilers until i can get him something to do on lyka kit 6
Steve is now working on the Horn-plate kit for the showman's and although this will be our next priority it may not actually be the next thing out the door, if you know what i mean.
yeah it would be so nice for everything to go to plan and get the kits out on time and in order but it would seem that someone upstairs has different plans maybe one day
but, we are not going anywhere, cash flow is looking good and we are 100% committed to getting you your finished models as soon as we can

Re: Showman's rear wheel rims !!!!
Hi Craig
Any update on the Showmans/ Road Loco next kit.
The Irish may have a saying about time but at ten years ahead of Steve the Grim Reaper has made a note of some of us in his book

Re: Showman's rear wheel rims !!!!
the next kit will now probably be the horn-plates. the laser cuts for these have been ordered.
however, if the castings for kit 3 arrive we will look at the situation again and produce the kit that is quickest to get out the door.
all i can do is chase things up tomorrow and give you an update then

these were the first two rims welded together and were went straight out for vulcanising so we could give the thumbs up to the process.
