Showmans steering wheel
recently Steve has been machining the 1st off showmans steering wheel that will be used to make the castings for the finished parts. unlike our other wheels, this is a one piece part and has been cut from solid brass using Steve's 3D machining program.
there are many plus sides to this method but the down side is that it took about 2 hours to do the rough cut and around 8 hours to do the finish cut on each side. apparently there was about 1/4 million lines of code in the program.
i thought the best way to show these photos was in a slide show...

That part is for none of us as it is a plug. Must save up for a metal 3D printer.

Re: Showmans steering wheel
For the pedants amongst us I shall rephrase.... That "template" looks really nice, will the finished item be cast in brass for those of us that wish have something else to polish and is it the same for all.
Re: Showmans steering wheel
the drawing says LWC bronze !!!
assuming that both types have a steering wheel ( ) then yes, it seems to be the same casting for both.
i just use the term "showmans" to cover this model in general cos I'm lazy and i don't know any better
