2" Burrell Lubricator
Hi All
I'm just doing the design for the 2" Burrells Lubricator and would appreciate any opinions you may have. My research shows that most scratch builders in this scale put a commercially available 1" square tank on their engines. This size seems to be the smallest available commercially unless you consider displacement lubricators.
The problem with the 1"quare ones is that they are far too big compared to the engine. I did draw one, but it just confirmed that they do look a bit out of place. So we are considering making a very much smaller design using the pump design for the 1" scale Minnie. I have checked all the forums I know of and asked as many of my friends as possible but no one has any firm information about their reliability. Does anyone have any experience with them?
We would produce the lost wax castings for the body and lid with all the detail shown, but there's not much point if the lubricators themselves are not reliable. I've shown below a jpeg of what it should look like.
Regards
Steve

HI STEVE, HAVE YOU CHATTED TO ALAN AT M.J. ABOUT THE PROB, THEY OF COURSE DO A RANGE OF 2" SCALE MODELS, AND MAY HAVE THE EXPERANCE THAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.
YOUR DRAWING 'LOOKS' OK, FROM A DESIGN POINT OF VIEW.

Hi Bungle
I think you'll find that the script font ones in 4"scale are sold by Robert Barker. These were done this way to prevent any possible copyright problems for the ones being sold by LSM. I know because it was me who gave the pattern to Robert in the first place.

Re: 2" Burrell Lubricator
Hi Steve.
I have a minnie traction engine that gets steamed.. I havent had any problems with the pump. the only thing that took a little while to setup was the non return valve as it depends on how much force the spring is under as to how much oil gets though, so a little trial and error was needed to get it so oil was pumped but steam was not going back up into the pump..
I'd say it will work fine pump wise.
