Hornplate alignment tool

Having got Kit 10 Crankshaft bearing housings in place I tried the alignment tool but after removing any corner burrs it does not fit in either housing. Its a very small amount - Should I just file edges until it slides into housings individually before getting to alignment process to make sure it slides in both ? I am assuming housings right size.
Any advice out there

Hi,
I had the ssme issue last week as it was only a few thou, I contacted Steve, he advised to file carefully off both ends until they fit snug. To be sure only file from the same face on each end. I filed the faces facing the cylinder. The tool fits perfect. The alignment is spot on.

Kit 12 the boiler part number BU 21224.
