Hornplates alignment tool
Afternoon all, trust you are all well?
I received my boiler yesterday:D , another milestone in my build.
If anyone else received their's too, have you found that the aliening tool doesn't fit the bearing housing?
Mine is just over 1mm out, both ends.
Iv'e tried to phone STW this afternoon, but they where already closed till Tuesday.
I can remember reading other threads with the same problem, can anyone help?
Cheers Charlie

Re: Hornplates alignment tool
Hi Charlie,
I had my boiler a few months ago. I had exactly the same issue. I contacted Steve. The advise was to very carefully file each end so that there is sliding fit but not loose. You need to make sure that you file the same facing side on each end. I done mine and no problem.

Re: Hornplate alignment Tool
Hi Mike, thanks for replying. I knew I had seen it somewhere on here lol.
I will try that tomorrow. The boiler is a big lump, isn't it?
Be good to finally start to put together all the parts I have made.
Thanks again Charlie

Re: Hornplates alignment tool
Unless you already have the firedoor etc, i would hold back with the hornplate alignment until firedoor fitted.

Re: Hornplate alignment Tool
Mike, I haven't got them yet, I wasn't going to fit the boiler to the hornplates yet, I just tried the tool and foudfout it didn't fit.
It says in the instruction to fit the fire hole doors etc before attaching to hornplates. Got a bit to do, fitting the cylinder block and few other bits.
Thanks for your advise.

Re: Hornplate alignment Tool
Thanks for your reply pitpup, I had taken Mike's advise and filed one side on both ends, now fits fine. A nice snug fit.
Thank you both
Charlie
