STEERING CHAINS
HI GUYS,
STEVE WHEN YOU SENT KIT 15 (MW DAYS) YOU TOUCHED ON THE FITTING OF THE STEERING CHAINS,BUT ADDED YOU WOULD EXPLAIN IN DETAIL WHEN WE GOT THE BOILERS, AND EVERYTHING WAS BEING FITTED UP TO THEM.
PERSONALLY I KNOW, BUT SOME BUILDERS MAY NOT. MAYBE A SHEET COVERING THAT DROPPED IN WITH THE NEXT KIT (DUE SOON WE UNDERSTAND) WILL HELP.
REGARDS
BRUCE

Re: STEERING CHAINS
JUST HAD A CHAT WITH STEVE THIS EVENING ABOUT THE STEERING CHAINS, AS I NOTICED THAT WHEN WE FITTED OURS, AS THE CHAIN ROLLED OVER THE SHAFT, AT TIMES A LINK WOULD STAY UPRIGHT, AND THEN FAILED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BOILER. THIS IS STILL WITHOUT OUR CLADDING FITTED.
STEVE SAID THAT HE HAD JUST BECOME AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, AND STW ARE LOOKING AT SOURCING A MORE TO SCALE CHAIN, THAT IS STILL STRONG ENOUGH TO WORK AND WILL BE REPLACING THE 'OVERSIZE' ONE IN DUE COURSE.
HOPE THIS HELPS

Re: STEERING CHAINS
Hi All
I replaced my steering chain with one the same size as the check chain (the check chain is slightly smaller on the MW chain). It's not perfect,a bit tight at times and very shiny, but it helps when moving her around. It would be nice to have a better looking and smaller again chain (does that make sense )

ALAN AT MJ HAS SOME DIFFERENT SIZE CHAINS FOR HIS 2" & 3" MODELS, BUT IT'S REALLY UP TO STEVE TO DECIDE, AND STW TO SUPPLY (AS WE HAVE PAID FOR IT)

Re: STEERING CHAINS
Hi,
We are aware that the chain that was supplied by MW's is not really suitable. We have tried the MJ chain, however, we have deemed that this is also not suitable, firstly because, for us it broke very quickly, as was not very strong at all and secondly because it would have worked out expensive for you guys as it was not cheap. We are in the process of trying to source an alternative and will keep everyone posted to how we get on.
All the best
Dean & Steve.

Re: STEERING CHAINS
Steve/Dean
Was in B&Q last week ( hate the place really) but did notice they had a fair selection of chains displayed in various buckets, they were all welded at the joints and came in different colours, sizes and shapes and sold by the metre.
I don't know if you had considered theirs. I didn't buy any as, not being an expert, didn't know if they would be strong enough.
Any thoughts?
Alan
