Message to the group with regards the tender dummy inspection cover...is it fixed to the tender by drilling the rear tender plate and bolting it on or is it fixed with loctite and dummy bolts ?

I fixed mine with araldite, and used bolt heads araldited in place. I thought about drilling, but the potential for leaks was greater. Mike

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't there a space cut out of the cork cladding, a threaded blank, and then a hex bolt for it to go through?
Once I was 100% sure I had trimmed the cladding nearest the hornplates correctly I drilled a small hole and used thread lock on the bolt to hold it in place on the blank and all was well. I can take a picture of the finished article if you need. (Picture paints a thousand words etc etc )

Maybe I'm on crossed lines here, but I think he means the dummy plate that fits to the bottom rear of the tender. I have a feeling that this may have been a recent additionto some of the later kits, in the name of authenticity. Jim, maybe because you are in the advancec stages of your build, maybe, your kit didnt have this. Mike

No we're talking about two different things! Ha ha.
Do not drill the tender. The cover is just for show! Just glue in place along with some rivet bolt heads cut down for the asthetics look.
My tender Is still sat on wooden blocks even now and I suspect the dummy hatch would have made the whole thing wobble. Personal preference I suppose. I didn't bother.
