playing pool.....
I wonder how you guys would do against F.O. himself..... he was a man fixed in his ways and ALWAYS wanted roast beef and yorkshires for dinner and was a pool playing fanatic!!!!!
.... Oh yes, F.O. ===> (F)reelen (O)scar Stanley!

Re: Stanley steam car at STW
wow, forgotten how out of date this was.
OK, quick update. the steam cars are nearing the point of first steaming and there should be some interesting stuff happening over the next few weeks.
i'll take some time later to search through my photo-bucket and get this thread up to date.

Re: Stanley steam car at STW
OK, managed to find another load of photos. basically Steve put about 90% of the cars together unpainted, then stripped them both back down again for painting. as the parts were slowly painted bit by bit they went back together again...

Re: Stanley steam car at STW
a big jump forward in the photos and you can see how they now spend most of their time under cover....
and then we come right up to date, and this weekend. one of the cars is being moved out ready for a boiler inspection.
Steve made a comment " I'll be able to give you all a ride on them next week !!!" closely followed by "or maybe i should wait till all the other bits are on". anyone care to guess if he will be able to resist the temptation ????

Those are sheer pieces of art. Steve is quite the accomplished engineer. I suppose it also helps having a factory at hand, full of all the right tools...
Only thing is: these pictures make me want a STW kit for a small Stanley Steamer even more!

Grand Design
As in the 'Grand Design' series are we to know (a) what they will be worth when finished? & (b) how much over budget did they go? although to be fair it would have been pretty much guesswork with something this unique.
Amazing project though, what is Steve going to do next when these are finished??? The 'Stanleys' will take some topping.
