Front wheel hubs

Just started assembling the front wheel. Screwed in the oiler, is it meant to protrude though to the inner hub? As mine do and I cant get the bush in with them screwed in fully and can only get the bushes in from one side of the hub, not like it shows in instructions, that you put one in from both sides.
Can anyone help?

If i remember correctly i beleive my bushes were different lengths. If you screw the oiler right through you wont get the wheel on the axle. I fitted mine so that the longer bush fitted from the back of the wheel, then the shorter one from the front of the wheel. That leaves a gap so it should line up with the oiler hole. I made sure the oiler did not go past the bushes. My bushes fitted from each side.

Have you got the oiler tube the right way around? As in one end has more thread cut on it than the other?

On the inside of the hubs, the spokes protrude into the centre bore and the bigger of the bushes wont past them. I do know that the two bushes are different sizes and should come in line to leave a small gap for oil to get to axle.
Think I'll give steve a ring tomorrow.

Worth a look as I noticed on both my rears and rear axle oilers that they had different lengths of thread on either end. You only need a few lines of thread to screw the little caps on I suppose.

Also (not teaching people to suck eggs) have you run a finger inside the housing to check for any burrs etc that may stop bearings fitting in. My sintered bronze bushes were very tight when trial fitting them.
If you didn't know already you will need to cut down the brass screws for your end caps. There was talk of these being replaced with steel ones however they will still need trimming. Don't be that guy who snaps one off like I did and have to delicately remove a tiny BA thread (ball ache)

Funny you should say that aboutthe brass bolts, idonr exactly the same and replaced them with stainless steel allen bolts. Mike

Chas, i have checked my kit instructions. The bush numbered AM141814 Fits in the outside hub. The bush AM141820 (the longer one) fits the inside. The last part i mentioned is definately  longer, so when fitted will leave a gap for oil to get through.

Ive sorted the problem I had with the bush. I filed down the end of the spoke to allow the bush to enter the hub. The oiler end stops the bushes moving together. Both wheels done and today I'll be taking them apart to assemble them permanently.

Thats good, sorted. There will inevitably be issues throughout the build, but the support is incredible.

Hi Mike, yes I agree, no doubt I'll have more problems to over come. Its a help knowing that there's help on here from other builders.
Right better get my ass into gear and get back to the garage and get these wheels done:)
