April production photos...

hello, cant really comment on kit schedules and dispatch dates as Ian has taken full control of that side of things now. but i can still provide you with some photos of the stuff we are or have been making recently...

6inch foden boilers first...

the machining of the parts is now all done and the first five have been welded together and are waiting final machining...











this block will simulate a cylinder block and give us our reference points for the final machining...



the boilers are waiting for the large CNC mill to finish on these... the SCC hornplates...





and the rest of this kit is in production now...





we have also been working on a lot of springs as well. these include both 4inch and 6inch foden i believe...



the machine shop is also working on 4inch foden boiler prep...



and harry is welding some BU 4inch boilers...

Many thanks for the update and photos. It is always great to see some production photos, as they add greatly to any explanation of what is happening in the factory. I do like the pictures of the 6” boilers. I realise that we will not be getting them just yet, as you have still got a lot of work to do on them but it does look like you are working hard on them.

Received My Kit 3 today of the 4.5 Foden, I assume Kit 2 is still awaiting parts to be machines/arrive

Burrell 4" Kit 21 will leave here today, should be with you tomorrow
Next Burrell KIt should be Kit 23

When will the 4.5 fodens be recieving the front boiler mount i thought it was ment to be with kit 2

Who needs a boiler cradle when a piece of wood does the job!!!!!  Used this until my boiler cradle arrived.

Our suppliers say its will be at least 8 weeks before we receive castings from them, sorry the news isn't good but I cant control that.

A brief look forward to next week and beyond
4" Burrell SCC Kit 9 should go next week
4" Burrell DCC Kit 4 and 5 should go next week
2" Burrell Kit 7 should go near the end of next week or early week after (damn holidays) This kit will be ready before Kit 3.
After Easter we should see water tanks for 4" fodens and flywheels, crankshaft parts for the 6" fodens
My crystal ball is starting to cloud over a bit now, but I can just glimpse a 4" burrell Agricultural Kit 23 on the horizon and possibly some water tanks for 6" fodens

Thanks i understand that you carnt controll it, tbh its great news for me means i get more time to finiah kit 1 and get the axle and springs prepped

Just looking at those boiler pictures, & all that lovely prepping on the plates & the thought crossed my mind as to how far Harry would have travelled if you were to lay all his welds end to end, I mean, there must be quite a bit in just one boiler, multiplied by the number of boilers on all the engines, plus other welding jobs on chassis etc etc.... probably enough to go from Daventry over the boarder to my place in Scotland!!!

Just a thought.......perhaps Dean could work it out... That should keep his feet off the table for a while

Hi Ian you mentioned crank shaft parts for Fodens does this mean we are not making boiler second payment this month 

Dave I believe it will be the KIt 22 that will go before your boiler deposit is required (but i'm a make bits man not a finance man) some times priority's change.

Hi Ian,

You posted last week that Kit 5 for the DCC Burrell Showmans and road loco's was ready for shipping, Haven't heard anything from Isabel has she always telephones me to let me know when the next kit is ready for collection. In case no one has told you, i prefer to come to the factory to collect the kits when ready, as i don't trust the couriers after what happened with the Foden six inch cylinder blocks.

I had a text regarding dispatch last Friday for kit 5 and managed to reschedule delivery for yesterday as we have to arrange for someone to be home to accept delivery.

Yesterday Foden 6 Kit 22 (including pistons and rings) was dispatched
Today its the turn of Burrell 2" Kit 7 (tender)

I'm not home until the 19th and wont have any tracking details etc. Is it possible to arrange for the 20th or send me any details so I can? I'm offshore so dont get a phone signal.

Hi Iain,

Your kit was sent yesterday with all the others as by the time we saw this it had already been collected.

You'll need to contact your local Interlink office to organise a re-delivery.
