Some good progress there craig, Am i right in saying that the ash pan on the fodens are held on by nut and bolts, does this mean that every time we need to empty it we will have to undo the bolts, or is there a quick release mechanism somewhere

6 inch foden you shouldnt need to drop the ashpan to clean it. They are large enough you can do standard practice of full size engines with you rake to clean the fire through the firebars. Will save you haveing to roll around on the floor but everyone to their own. The kit is looking rather good.

no, i think the ashpan is held on with special pins but they were not ready at the time so bolts were used for a temporary fit !!!

Re: April, May, June 2015 production photos...
ok, here they are, last weeks photos. a bit late (sorry bout that )
not a huge amount to see this week as most of the work has been on small water gauge fittings.
here are the correct fittings for the 6inch foden ash pan...
and the fire box door, the over size bolts are more of our temp fittings !!!!...
and the big chunky water gauge...
here are a few of the 2inch boilers all finished an ready for dispatch...
and we are now concentrating on the showmans boiler cladding kit. i think this also includes a few bits for the cylinder block such as the drip tray.
this has a lot of manual work in it and the photos will be more interesting next week, but for now...
laser cut cladding ready for rolling...
these will become the bands that support the cladding...
and the cylinder drain nut plates, a very simple little job but it all takes time...

Strange you should ask that. I have been expecting my kit 3, maybe they are not sending it out until the whole kit is there, so msybe not too long now.

Re: April, May, June 2015 production photos...
I guess mine will be with us shortly, i just wondered if they were having a problem with the brass rings so eill send me complete kit out. Was your brass ring missing from the kit, or was it something you were advised of?

Re: April, May, June 2015 production photos...
the brass name rings for the 2inch were delayed because we are now having them made as a complete casting instead of a ring with an insert. good news is that they are now in the factory. they just need machining.
Last weeks photos...
first off, the SCC cylinder blocks. we had a major problem on our large mill last month when the seals on one of the servos went and coolant got into the unit. the result was a new servo and the complete re-wire of the table unit. it's now fixed but the delay has meant that the blocks have only just finished on their first op...
as a back up, we have been working on the main drive gears...
we also have about six pallets of rear wheels being worked on, i think these are 4inch Burrell. (will confirm )
showmans/road loco castings next. the main Axel tubes...
and one of the bearing housings...
and some 2inch stuff, the chimney base castings...

Re: April, May, June 2015 production photos...
some photos from last week. firstly, we have spent most of the week working on some of the stuff that was featured last week. mark has finished all the bu4 wheels and I've have almost finished the showmans castings. secondly, my camera was playing up this week so some of these photos are taken on my phone... not the best.
last op on the showmans rear Axel tubes...
and fitting of the bushes using an Axel to ensure perfect alignment...
and the Axels...
and pump shaft housings...
for the 2inch cylinder accessory kit, steam chest cover...
and name plate...
some 4inch foden con-rods...
and a quick game of name the part (cos I've forgotten what they are called ). i do know they are for the 2inch !!!
