general production update: november 2013
another long awaited update (sorry about that peeps, can't believe its been this long )
first thing to show is another batch of completed boilers. the second lot done by our new welder...
and as soon as the 6inch foden cylinders were done it was time to get on with the four inch ones.
after the front and rear faces are done everything else is done in one op on the 4th axis machine that lasts 1hour 20mins !!!
and then the liners are shrunk in...
this month we have also completed another full batch of water cart/bowsers. this goes out as one large complete kit...

Re: general production update: november 2013
we are also working on Kit2 of the new batch of showmans and kit one of the new single crank compound model.
hubs, covers rivets etc are all done...
wheels rims are rolled...
and are now being welded up...
and we just have the spokes to do on this and then its ready.
also been working on the showmans flywheels...
also probably worth a mention is the small change to the way production is manged. general organization, material ordering and preparation used to be shared by about four different people. all this will now be done by Ian, through direct contact with Dean and Steve, allowing the rest of us to get on getting the bits made
more updates soon, but if i do forget. just shout

Burrell 4" Agric.
It is a long time since we had Kit 19. When is Kit 20 due. I see no mention of it in your forecast of production.
It is very cold in the workshop with nothing to do!
Peter.

Re: general production update: november 2013
the next 4inch agric kit will be kit 22. not kit 20. kit 22 is gear change, water gauge and whistle parts and should go out by the end of the month.

Re: general production update: november 2013
a few more pics of this weeks work...
the water cart is just waiting for the seat pads to arrive...
the SCC wheels being welded and drilled...
and the spokes are here...
and the completed wheel...
loads of laser cuts arrived this week. apart from the SCC spokes, most of them are for the next 6inch foden kit.
the horn plates are ready to go onto the CNC for drilling...
and I've stared work on the support brackets...
not sure if i'll get an update done next weekend cos im moving house. but if there's anything extra special to see i'll get a photo
