GENERAL PRODUCTION UPDATE- MARCH 2013
OK, here we go.
thought i do a quick general update this time to cover the stuff that's on the machines at the moment, then I'll go back to updating the individual models as i get back into things. hopefully i should cover anything that's been missed over the last few months as we go.
Showmans roof kit...
after the delays on this kit we are now making good progress with most of the wood now in the factory. i think we are just waiting for some laser cut parts and some more twisted brass.
first off a few general photos of the roof...
loads of wood to sort out, don't want to get these mixed up...
the main cross sections are drilled by us...

Foden 6inch steering
also currently working on the 6inch Foden steering wheel and hand brake mechanism.
again waiting for laser cut parts on this but we have turned the steering wheel rim...
and these are the mounting brackets for the steering box...
more updates on this next week as we progress with the parts.
and on the subject of the 6inch Foden, the wheels for our control model have just come back from powder coating...

4inch Burrell steering
another steering kit, this time the 4 inch Burrell (we will also be producing this for the 2inch model)
steering wheels were done a couple of weeks ago so i'll have to go find a photo of them for next week.
the top and bottom mounting brackets are on the machines at the moment. the bottom one is cut from solid...
and the top one will be a fabrication...
more on this next time, but for now a few photos of the sub-assemblies that are waiting for the boiler...

traction wagon
just had the wood in for the main chassis of the wagons...
and this pile represents one kits worth...
this is waiting to be built up into out control model and we have machined a few parts for this already. a bit of manual work needs doing before this is ready to go.
a few general photos of the wagons so far...

Re: GENERAL PRODUCTION UPDATE- MARCH 2013
so that's a quick look at whats being worked on at the moment. hopefully things will be back to normal from now on.
kinda got sidetracked with a few things since just before x-mas. don't like to make excuses but i did loose a close relative on x-mas day. my great uncle who was actual more of a grandfather to me. and as im approaching 40 in 3 months time im sort of in a strange state of mind at the moment. half way through my life and have i achieved enough sort of thing
midlife crisis on the horizon
interesting to see that the people at photo-bucket have decided to make the site a lot harder to use... thats progress i guess

Re: GENERAL PRODUCTION UPDATE- MARCH 2013
Hey Craig
How did you get your Foden wheels powdercoated with the rubbers on??? I though it would not work because of the temperature. If it is possible I might want to change my wagon wheels for vulcanised ones.
Cheers
Brian

Re: GENERAL PRODUCTION UPDATE- MARCH 2013
sorry, my mistake. the wheels are just painted, not powder coated. i thought that as they had been sent away they had had the special treatment
and no news on the missing foden parts, still waiting for the supplier.
but good news... had some laser cut parts in today and we have successfully twisted the second load of brass roof struts for the showmans.
more info later in the week when there's something worth showing.
