General Production update SEPTEMBER 2013

OK, the long awaited next up date. with Mark spending most of his time on the 6inch Foden cylinders I've been trying to do as much as i can with the other machines and to be honest i just keep forgetting to stop and take photos.

but here's the state of play at the moment...

first off, the Burrell 4inch boilers were inspected/tested last Friday and the final bit of work was done today. so we have some that are ready to go and work is already underway on the next ones...





The last part of the Showmans went out last month, the meter board...



work is going well on the foden 6inch cylinders. i think we are on op 3 or 4 now. the main bores are done and there are no problems to report so far  ...



and the rest of the machines have been busy on the 4inch Burrell final drive/ gear guards kit.

we finally got this kit together today and it will be going out tomorrow...





next kit to concentrate on is the foden 4inch smoke box kit. again this is being held up on the turning side with a fair bit of the milling already done....



also working on a lot of Burrell 2inch parts.

lots going on any idea on when cylinder block will be finished cheers dean:D 

i'll see what mark thinks, but i'm guessing it's gonna be weeks rather than days  

Unless my eyes are tricking me. There is 2 different boiler designs in the photo.

Any news on the 4" DCC flywheels please?

OK, the next update is here  

first off, the DCC flywheels are in the building. we will get them out as soon as possible.

work is progressing well on the 6inch foden cylinders. Mark is working his way around the side faces. apparently there are a lot of cross holes to drill so still a bit to do yet...







good news is that we are nearly there with the 4inch foden smoke box. again this has been another kit with a lot of turning in it so the bottle neck is still there. we are aiming to get this out next monday/tuesday.

Oh yes, the other boilers in the photos from last time are 4inch foden.

the new welder, Harry, was given a small batch to start with. just to make sure everything went smoothly. he is already working on the next batch with the long term plan that he produces boilers full time on a continuous loop  

Any news on the other kits we're waiting on for the 4" foden?

not 100% sure on what your waiting for  

the cylinder block castings are in and will be started as soon as possible, that's all i know
