4.5" Foden C
First post on here so may as well talk about what I'm building
Started her in October and almost got a rolling chassis. About 2 more kits until we do i think. Few annoying things with the kit that you wonder why but over all been pretty good and the cold weather should hopefully stop soon and make the garage a little more pleasant. Can't wait to complete it and have it steaming.
Anyone else around the same stage? I know there was a couple others sold at Old Warden.

Re: 4.5" Foden C
Hi Hecter,
I have had 4 kits delivered so far. My Chassis needs another two coats of paint before putting it together. Hopefully start on kit 2 and 3 next week. Enjoy the build, I certainly am. Be great to see some pics.

Re: 4.5" Foden C
hey John, did you order yours at old warden, think it's in the same batch
Think we have almost everything together. but we forgot some parts after they'd had some sand blasting done so. by next Tuesday everything should be together and up to date ready for the next kit. we split up the painting between us and i think we only had to put 2 coats of hammerite smooth on the chassis rails, don't think we put more than two layers of paint on anything. got quite lucky with my dad having a dipping plant at his work which has had a few bits put through it, paint is baked on as well and quite thin which is good.
i have a few i'll put up soon
Andrew

Re: 4.5" Foden C
Hi Andrew,
I ordered my Foden at Weeting but had to delay my start until October so that I could build a new Garage to house her.
I am using Craftmaster paint. So far I have two coats of primer and two coats of undercoat on the chassis.

Re: 4.5" Foden C
I'm pretty sure the front saddle it on now, i'm not completely sure. but it's up to this stage now with part completion on the kit after the wheels i believe. Very confusing as STW website doesn't have an up to date kit breakdown.
We found that on the flatter longer parts using a roller gave the best finish, when you first use it, it doesn't look great, pick up the pattern of the roller but it flattens of nicely as it dries, whether the paint you use will do the same however i don't know. Have to get some photos of yours soon!

Hi
The brake down of kits is more of a guide and is not really set in stone. Better getting regular kits than waiting in a specific part. Add to the surprise and suspense when waiting for the next kit.

Ah ok I thought they had it put down in a rough order to make it so bits came that can go almost straight on without waiting for other kits.
Love the profile picture btw, might be able to get one of me like that. I doubt itll look as good though

Re: 4.5" Foden C
Finally got the rear leaf springs/axle bearings ect fitted to the chassis but found the pinch bolts for the tensioner bar were poorly welded and broke. it only seemed to be the one end though so possible batch default? I dont know. but id check the pinch bolt bracket by tightening the pinch bolt to check yours havent got the same defect. Got a couple more photos and will add them later when im on a pc

Re: 4.5" Foden C
as promised the photos, would of got a close up of rear suspension but the broken bits mean there's no point. hopefully in a month and a bit i'll have a rolling chassis.

Re: 4.5" Foden C
Well two of them, my dad and his mate who is a family friend are all into it, then the other two are his sons. I wish the bikes were mine, they're my dads mates. bsa b50mx, a65 lightning and a c15t thats hidden away behind the r6.
Is nice to get it into.a rolling chassis, a lot better idea of size suprising how much bigger they make look. got a few bits to take off, tidy up and paint though.
May have to push each other down the rode when the steerings done
Thanks,
Andrew
