Does anyone know the best place to get spare gauge glasses from?

Hi Barry
Try live steam models, on the website in the water gauge section, click on your gauge size and the glass is listed as an additional item, the glass comes in different sizes starting from £3.60.

I use a short length of ally bar the same diameter as the glass to check all is well before fitting the glass. There's no second chances with them!

I also cut the glass so there is only a couple mm inside the fitting. Just enough to stop the gland from slipping past when you tighten the nut up finger tight. This allows the fixture to flex without doing the glass and provides a good seal.
No broken glass in 4 years of many many hours and road miles. Had to replace due to corrosion at the ends otherwise no problems.
