I've just bought a secondhand 2" Burrell and I can't work out how to fill the boiler initially. Obviously it has the pump and injector for filling under pressure but what about the first time, is there a convenient filling point?

You should have a "bung" in the smokebox.

Also an option I use often. adaptor on the blowdown valve and put a hose on it to fill from the bottom.

Blow down valve everytime on my 4" with a little submersible pump, although with a 2" its not going to take much water so an electric pump might be a bit much.
I filled a 3" the other day for a fellow chap on the rally field and it took seconds with my pump and just a few pints, where as the 4" gobbles 5 gallons with ease.

Thanks both. When you say blowdown do you mean the small pipe on the gauge glass?

I've nicked Its-me's picture and highlighted the bit on the boiler, you'll find a valve and outlet just there.
