Kit 24 - Governor
I read in the instructions for my SCC that the Governor is just for show - it does not function. I have a problem where the thumbscrew diameter is too great which means the thumbscrew cannot mesh with the top of the worm wheel - it meshes just at the side - see photos. It’s obviously not right, but it does turn the worm wheel ok.
I don’t think I need to worry about this , as the Governor won’t be doing anything anyway - except spinning around - if you read this Lynn, perhaps you could give me your opinion - thanks very much.

Hi
Can you give me an outside diameter of the thumb screw and the worm gear please. Then I can check if they are on size etc.

Re: Kit 24 - Governor
Hello Lynn - thanks for your reply.
The outside diameter of the thumb screw is 11.2mm
The outside diameter of the worm wheel is 17.0mm
The shaft centres for those two parts (on the Governor casting) as best as I can measure, are 12.2mm apart.

Hummm
All dimensions given are withing point one or two of correct. Have you tried to mesh the gears and pass the shaft with the spring though them? As the worm has "raised" edges.
All the relevant hole features are CNC machined in one fixturing so they should all be accurate to each other.

Re: Kit 24 - Governor
As you can see, with the two gears meshed, the shaft misses the centre of the hole by what looks like just under half its diameter … i.e. a touch less than 2mm.
Can you just confirm that the thumbscrew is based on a 7/16 UN bolt (16 TPI ?)
If so, maybe I can buy a 5/16 bolt and turn the thumbscrew part myself to try and make it all fit together properly.
Thanks very much Lynn.
