Front wheels

Hi guys need your help
I have assembled my front wheel rims and isoflexed the tyres on last weekend what I've left hanging from the shed roof to dry since.. When is the best time or after how long can I mask up and paint my rims to prevent them going rusty? Any suggestions welcome many thanks tom

Left mine for about 2 weeks, but I used Sikoflex , but think you would be better off with them indoors, that will reduce the chance of moisture build up causing the rust.
Once mine were primed and dry I wrapped them in clingfilm to protect them, and put them away, as you won't need them for a while .

Thanks Steve will put them inside until next week what will be 2 wheels since I fitted the tyres before I mask up and spray as my wheels will be top coated and lined before putting away indoors

Hi...quick question. Has anyone had problems getting the rivit end of the spoke to fit flush with the rim ?

Hi, i did have a similar issue. I found it better to loosen the hub bolts slightly on each spoke, then all fitted ok. They have been made to pretty tight tolerances

Has anyone found a good way to produce a round rivet head on the inner rather than the nut finish ?. Looking at pictures of rear wheels they appear to be like it, front ones not ?

I used some araldite precision (the slow setting stuff) i dipped a thin drinking straw into it and let it run onto the head of the nut. It formed a bead, which when hardened off and painted, looks pretty authentic.

Just lie the wheel flat. Put a small blob on top of the centre of the nut or whats left of the protruding bolt. If you are doing it in the house, it will start to even out. Any that spills down the side of the nut, take off with s blade, before its too hard. Obviously if powder coating, this would not cover.
