Andy
Your engine will either get:
- Very dusty
- Very muddy
- A combination of the above

Re: great dorset steam fair
Mud fest is all I can say
Spent most of today pressure washing the car and caravan.
Spent 2hrs in these holding pens on Wednesday afternoon
You'd think after 45 years they could cope with a bit of rain, but the lack of organisation was shocking, its a great event but they need to sort out if it rains, they even closed the prepaid camping check in for a while and expected folks to go else where, I think I've been spoilt with Glastonburys slickness of getting folks in regardless of weather conditions.
Didn't take many pics but bumped into a couple of the regulars here and of course a visit to the STW stand.
The miniature's field was pretty boggy as well, nothing much happened in the Playpen till Friday, I suspect more was done on Sat and Sun but I had to return home on Sat so missed the best play time how you clean an Engine up after being there god only knows.
Don't think I'll repeat the experience and certainly not with an engine, might pop back in a few years but I prefer the smaller rallies.

Re: great dorset steam fair
Have to agree, Andy, thanks for taking the time to talk (your a double star):-), Liz and I both agree, photo's don't do your engine justice! Nice to see Tim and Frederick, and Colin, I believe. Nice to meet Steve T, and catch up with Dean and Steve (excellent cuppa). Bit muddy to begin with, but a most enjoyable 5 days. Oh, the bastids that nicked the brass tap fittings from the water supply need painfully castrating, then putting down.
I may just paint me wheels too, maybe!

The weather was pretty good on Saturday when I visited, was nice to catch up with you Andy and Kev, Andy's engine looks and runs superb. Was also great to chat to David on the Steam Traction World stand and pick your brain.
Was a good day!

Re: great dorset steam fair
Was a interesting year with the weather, I didn't manage to get to talk to Andy but i did see his engine working hard in the play pen and it looked and sounded amazing, pictures and videos really don't do the engine justice, look so much more amazing in person, Was also nice to meet Mike (Mikaro) and have a chat about his wonderful J type he is building also another one that looks so much better in person, I am really bad with names but i spoke to one of the burrell scenic showman's lads and his engine looked and sounded amazing, was hoping to see it generate but unfortunately never made it back around to the miniatures
