lika accident
I was at a car show with the lika this Sunday, When returning the car home inside a trailer I was hit from behind. I was stopped to make a left turn and hit by a car going 40 to 50 mph. The impact had such force that there airbags went off and destroyed the trailer and lika. Don't know how bad yet. The rear ramp has to be cut off the trailer to get inside, but from what I can see it doesn't look too good. No one was injured. That's the good thing. waiting for the insurance to look at things.

Repairs
I do hope the insurance pays up quickly and in full. I assume the other parties insurance agrees with costs.
Re: lika accident
Sorry to hear about your accident and everyone at STW is glad you are okay.
We will be more than happy to quote your insurance company on any replacement parts that you need to enable you to get your car up and running again. Obviously if we do not have them in stock we will have to look at the price and timescale to make one offs but will do everything we can to help.
Alternatively should the insurance company want a valuation or even decide to write it off then you can again always put them in touch with us.
Regards
Dean

I will let you know the outcome. If all goes with the insurance company they will be looking at the car next week. I know I will need frame parts for starters. but will keep you updated on what else. Then you can quote the prices. Jake
I can't image if I were driving the car instead trailering it, what the out come would have been.

Here is the final outcome of the car. The insurance company totaled the car. They put the value at approx. $28,000. They said that I could keep the car and would deduct $5,000.00 for the scrap value. They are sending me a check for $22,700.00. They also said that the title would be clean and not said salvage. Now I can start the rebuild of the car.

I need kits 1 thru 5 to get it going again. It will most likely take a year to get it on the road again.

Here is the update on the car, After a long wait for the insurance company the money came through. The rebuild has begun. The frame was stretched 20". This was done to made it a four passenger surrey. The frame is done now the body will under go the same. Since the car will change a bit. It was decided that a in/out box will be added. This was done so the engine can be disengage from the rear wheels. now the engine can be warmed up to clear water from it and boiler fill pumps can run without driving the car. After driving the car for about a year it was discovered that their were times the boiler was low on water and the only way to fill it was by hand pump or jacking the wheels up to do so. This was not easy when on the road so the in/out box was designed and fabricated. The parts were off the shelf items that had to be machined. The first photo is the longer frame. The next photos are the in/out box parts. Then assembled engaged and dis-engaged.

Half of a car
The car was cut in two. The cut was just behind the engine. Braces were welded first to keep things straight then cut, the back section was pulled back 19.5". New steel was added and welded in place. The boiler will be under the back seat. New larger water tanks made of copper will be with the boiler. The oil burner will be part of the body and not in a basket. New springs were purchased from an Amish buggy shop in Pa. USA. They have a higher spring rate and will handle the load with no problems. The clips that were added by STW will not be needed. (The old springs were bent from the accident).

Re: lika accident
Great idea Jake, I have always thought a stretched Lika could make a fair bit of money as a wedding car.
