Road run!!
The next time that you take part in a road run to the local pub think about the achievements of this full size Burrell Showman’s Traction engine called Victory. The traction engine was owned by a fairground owner who was based in Norwich, Norfolk. At the out break of World War 2 in 1939 the traction engine was with his fair in Oxford and it was decided to close the fair down and to return to Norwich which is a distance of 140 miles. Having dismantles the fair and packed it onto road wagons they set out for the return journey home and managed to complete the 140 mile in one day!! The roads of the day would have to be taken into consideration and the fact that the traction engine would have been pulling a number of fairground wagons.

Re: Road run!!
Last time we were in England, 2007, it sometimes took us the same time to do the same distance, but that was because of the amount of traffic! Roads were better too.
