I will be there too, this will be my first time exhibiting miniature steam at Dorset, I have been going for many years with stationary engines but have decided to have a change this time, so hoping it will be a good experience . Hope to meet some of the forum members there.

Re: Who is off to GDSF in a couple of weeks?
Sadly this time I'll be away (bad timing with holiday dates) but hope you all have a good week and plenty of sales are made again this year.
Can I ask someone who is going to get some shots of the control model please. Wearing one of my other hats I'm giving a talk in November on the progress of the build and would like to show the control model.
I've got some from last year, but things have moved on since.

I will cross the English cannel to be there. Not with my 4” Agriculture Burrell but as guest on a full-size showman. As a member of the Dutch road roller association I was invited. I am in steam for 40 years now but this will be my first visit to GDSF , I really look forward to it.

I will be there driving the Harry Lee Steam Yacht's, so all those who have not yet experienced them please come and have a go (if you think your hard enough!!).
Also, dont forget the Steam Apprentice Club will be officially launching the Steam Traction World 4" Burrell project so support the STW guys with this too - a worthy project.

Just got my tickets to do two days this year and now trying to win family passes in a competition as well so I could go a few more times and take protesting offspring.

Re: Who is off to GDSF in a couple of weeks?
No I only ever go as a foot passenger. People have often asked if I am going to "do" Dorset but to be honest I couldnt think of anything less appealing. I'm totally knackered after one day in steam but to have to be in steam every day for the whole do without exception, and not be able to have a look round , sleeping in a tent, nowhere really comfy to sit, eating beans from a can etc, etc. Not really my idea of a fun week Especially as I have been told in uncertain terms that I would very definately be on my own.

See what your missing!!!
For those unable to attend here's a few shots of todays action at Dorset
veiw from the STW stand at about 10.30, this kept up for a good few hours
About 1.30 from the Corgi trailer, gave up and bought a pair of wellies at this poiint
Tim struggling to get a previously immaculate "Madeline" to the STW presentation for the beginning of the Burrell build for the Steam apprentice, what I failed to get was the next bit which was at least 6 people pushing him through the slurry as there was no hope of traction at all. Glad I'm not trying to clean out the inside of the rear rims!!!!
Ruined a show as per the rest of this year really, the forecast is now good for the remainder of the week but I doubt if the ground will clear up and cope with the foot fall. As for the car park.... only just managed to escape and there was a serious lack of parking today, not sure if I want to venture back later this week Count yourselves lucky

Dorset mud
The mud looks bad but I remember about five years ago when it was really wet with slurry mud everywhere, once it stopped raining the ground dried out really quickly and by the afternoon there was even dust blowing about! Mind you the mud is really fine and sticks like whatname to a blanket so don't envy Tim cleaning his wheels. Looking forward to going up there tomorrow though, (boots packed!)

Also sat here in a caravan, in the middle of the Miniature Steam Area. Decided not to brave the mud tonight, hoping it will dry up tomorrow and not rain too much more.
