Steam gathering Finchdean
Hope David wont mind me publicising this but there is a small steam gathering this Sunday at The George Inn in Finchdean, Hampshire. A number of past and current MW and STW builders will be there including myself, although not with the engine but with organs. Pub does nice food and the village is very picturesque not to mention steam and coal etc. PO8 0AU is the sat nav code for the pub, hopefully see some of you there.
Cheers Kev.

A PO postcode, not sure someone with an SO postcode is allowed down there
Do you have any idea of times and Tash and I may pop along.

Re: Steam gathering Finchdean
If its the same as last year most of the steamers gathered by about 10ish and gently got into steam, then just chugged about for a few hours, with cups of tea and chatting in a very informal way till about 3 ish

Despite poor forecasts the weather was quite lovely and allowed a good number of people to get together at the pub today, at least 8 engines, a model display, a craft display, a 3 1/2" portable track giving rides and even a demonstration of artistic blacksmithing from a local lady. The organ performed admirably and just added the final touch to an almost miniature rally. The pub did a good trade in food and drinks and it gave a chance to meet some fellow builders and say hello to new faces. Good to meet Rob and Tash, and catch up with David, Andy and Alan. Only got one picture to come out despite taking a few, the camera isnt very good and reliabilty isnt one of its strong points....
Now looking ahead to Chatham Docks next week and Basingstoke the week after.... Three events three weeks in a row, after months of hibernation suddenly gone into overdrive

Hi Rob,
The thread relating to gold leaf and application is in Tim Watsons "Frederick SRL" in owners photos. All I will say is Good Luck!!!! I enjoy the lining out in paint, I dont find it too difficult and it gives a nice finish quite quickly but the gold...... If you get it right it will look stunning.
Cheers Kev.

Re: Steam gathering Finchdean
Thanks Kev
I do remember reading it before, and yes it's quite a lot of work. I'll give it a go and see how we go, will look great against the blue if we can pull it off.
Will have to give Adam a call first though for some imitation gold paint.
Thanks also to Tim for posting your guide and supplier.
