It's gonna be some display then! My crane engine will be at Dorset this year, last time I had an engine at GDSF was 2006 so looking forward to it. Gradually polishing up it's shiny bits, all the mechanicals running sweetly now & the weather is looking good.

I also will be attending the GDSF this year with "Valiant", after many many years of going to the show as a punter this will be my first time with an exhibit, so if your passing then come and say hello, it would be nice to have a chat with fellow builders.

Is Valiant full size then and do you know where you will be? I'll probably be on the top row of the miniatures, kettles always on the the beer fridge will be stocked up!

Valiant is a 4" Burrell SCC built from STW kits so I won't be far from you in the miniatures section !

Re: Gathering the Engines for Dorset
yes watch those jibs.
A chap with a crane engine ripped my trailer canvas when he was loading up. Paying so much attention to the wheels they forgot about what the jib was doing.

Re: Gathering the Engines for Dorset
I did have a slight accident last year when on slippery ground the jib hit a 18" thick stone wall, 6' high. The jib won, the wall moved 3" at the base, no-one was looking & I'm not saying where it was!
I was thinking of adding demolition to the side rails of the canopy!

Wow thats going to be one hell of a display this year, the last time I was there was two years ago and they were a little thin on the ground for models, I'm sure its on your list of things to take but make sure you have a set of build instructions for at least one of them to show folks, think I certainly got one if not two folks to make further inquiries after showing them the build instructions for the 4" agri just last weekend.
I never bothered to have them with me until recently but since having them quite often I'll pull them out and find I'm chatting away to different folks for nearly an hour if I'm not careful as one after another comes over to look at what others are looking at. I eventually have to put them away or I'd never get out on the engine

I thought you'd have it covered its a shame I cant get down there but since they moved GDSF to the bank holiday it clashes with Rudgwick which I like to do. Hope you have fun and enjoy the show.
