Steam Traction World Gathering - 29th & 30th June 2013
Hi All,
I've had a lot of people asking recently about another Open Day.
Although both Steve & I would love to organise another get together at the factory we feel it is currently impractical. Firstly the organising believe it or not takes an absolute age & we have so much on at the minute that it would eat in to what precious time we do have available. Secondly the unit next door has recently been sold meaning the space we have available for engines/band/people/food etc is restricted. Added to all this a gym has opened up opposite where the members just continually park where the hell they want making things like parking a further complication.
Thinking about things in more detail, as much as it is great for something to be held at the factory we don't feel it is absolutely necessary. The majority of customers have more than likely already visited us and if they haven't they would be welcome to visit, by appointment, at any time. In reality would a big gathering be just as good with customers, old and new, with or without engines, getting together to 'chew over the fat', compare notes and put faces to names from the forum.
We are therefore going to propose (subject to agreement by the relevant parties) the following:
Steam Traction World will this year hold an Owners Rally incorporated within the Banbury Rally on 29th & 30th June 2013.
The organisers of the miniature section at Banbury have previously approached us asking for us to do something similar so we would need to get the okay but assuming everything is okay would everyone be interested??
The advantages i see are that:
1. There is already a beer tent.
2. There would be food/entertainment etc already on site.
3. There is a beer tent.
4. It is a central (ish) location.....unless you are Lynn & Tony
5. There is a beer tent
It would be a great opportunity for us all to meet up. If enough people turn up with engines i can imagine it will be one awesome collection of miniatures for everyone who attends to see.
Who's up for it?
Dean

You can put me down for that, I will make sure I keep that weekend available. I would certainly bring the engine for both days.
Re: Steam Traction World Gathering - 29th & 30th June 2013
Count me in. I should be just about to start my 2in Burrel then.
Would be good to know if people are planning to go on Saturday or Sunday?

There should be ample room for camping/caravans/motor homes etc so hopefully people with come both days. That way we can get one massive group photo & everyone can get together in the beer tent on the Sat evening for a night of frolics & entertainment.

I will be there, exhibiting my non STW engine. Don't think the 6" Foden will be ready by then

Re: Steam Traction World Gathering - 29th & 30th June 2013
Yes is it a group booking via STW or will STW send out forms for us via Banbury or will the rally itself send out forms etc. Do they do coke in the beer tent??? (Not a beer drinker )

Hi Steam Traction World
I don't think I will be there. Travelling 500 miles to a show, living in a Tent and not get sleeping would be a suicide trip. Doing 500 miles non stop is not a problem normally if I am well rested but being by myself would be a problem en route due to not being able to leave the trailer parked.

Re: Steam Traction World Gathering - 29th & 30th June 2013
Why not book into a Travelodge, I am not a fan at all of tents and don't do two days stays generally due to that reason but the chance to have 20 - 30 ?? engines all from STW and see all the buliders is something that just cant be missed.
Re: Steam Traction World Gathering - 29th & 30th June 2013
Travel lodge are charging £102 a night for the Sat, but the holiday inn in Banbury are £50 at the moment. The 3 local Premier Inns are all full.
Re: Steam Traction World Gathering - 29th & 30th June 2013

Hi all,
I'm just waiting for a reply from Banbury to confirm everything is a goer.
Assuming this happens I will then post derails & further info. We will also write to customers so those who don't read the forum have the info.

Annual gathering
Sounds like a good idea as the industrial estate was a bit limiting.
Are STW going to produce a plaque like last time? And are there going to be any other things organised just for the STW customers?
ie: Saturday night barbecue, get to drive a full size Burrell, prize for the furthest travelled! etc etc
