Thread sizes
Can anyone confirm what a couple of threads are. Namely the drain cocks on the tender, can't get mine to fit and think I need to tap them out again. Second the boiler washouts and plug in the tube plate. Comparing them to the fusible plug they seem the same and at a guess I'd say they were 3/8 BSP but not sure. Finally the port on the cylinder for the whistle/siren again at a guess I would think 1/4 BSP but could be wrong ( has been known )

Re: Thread sizes
What!!! No technial info in reply!!! Perhaps I should try and post something about cutting out the bushes to fit metric ones or filling them with JB weld to see if thats the only way to get people talking
Re: Thread sizes

Re: Thread sizes
Boiler washout plugs are 3/8" bspt. T being tapered so do not put just a bsp tap down it. I think the whistle is 1/4" bsp fitting or pararlell. Tender taps are5/16" x 32 tpi Me . Hope this helps.

Re: Thread sizes
No answer from me as I have not looked at the washout plugs as they should be with me in a month or two. I am not in a rush for them. Hence I do not know the size and relying with don't know is just as bad as relying with incorrect info.

Re: Thread sizes
Thanks Chop, had already sussed out the whistle thread but the washouts wont take the even the first thread of the fusible plug or the blast pipe adaptor despite all being 3/8 bsp although not tapered admittedly. That clearly makes a difference.
Not trying to rush things Lynn but going be all the hullabaloo created by the test question would like to have a little time on my own well in advance with the brother in laws plumbing pressure tester just putting my mind at rest that I have at least seen 200 psi without too many leaks. After all not much else to do at the mo and the weather is such that venturing outside isnt quite so unpleasant now.

Re: Thread sizes
Whats the thread in the whistle base? I have a three tone whistle I picked up a long time ago that I want to try out, it has a 1/4 40 base so I want to make a simple bush to just switch them over.
