Query on pipe fitting..

Hiya boys n girls,

I've got a query regarding the two pipes coming out of the top of the bioler under the crank, one goes to the steam head which I've no problem with, the other one however is floating in mid-air at present and I guess it's going to connect to the sight-glass BUT, the fitting is bigger than the hole on the back spectacle plate, Does This Fitting Have To Go Through The Spectacle Plate?
If so I can just file/drill the hole out to a larger size but if it's not the case then I don't obviously want to go drilling/enlarging holes/buggering up paintwork if there's no need to.

Any picture of this area would be superb but a written answer will be just as good so I can get my head around it.

A. Yes

It connects to sight glass via a male connection which is held in place via a bracket fixed to the top first drive shaft

Thanks for the heads up Al' , As I said, I was lining the pipes up and was like hmmmm this doesn't fir through here etc etc so it HAS confirmed my thoughts on it then, drilling out is required.
