Kit 10bearing housing material
Hi all
I have just received kit 10 and i have question regarding the LH Bearing Cap.BU21009 I expected it to be a brass casting as is the RH side but I have been sent a machined steel cap , it's a lovely piece of work but not what I expected is this the norm now or is a brass version an optional extra .
Any feedback appreciated
Regards
Steve

I think, this is standard. I got those bearing housings more then a year ago. In my case the RH bearing was a brass-casting, the LH bearing a mashined steel part as well.

Thanks Karl I guess it is standard now , I was going to have all the brass polished but now will paint all bearing parts except for the brass lid flaps
Many thanks for your interest

Hi Steve
It is a personal opinion as to what looks best with those caps.
I was fortunate to get both sides in brass with my 2" engine and I did polish them initially but they quickly lost there luster.
The 4" engines come with all cast steel housings and brass lids that don't look out of place when painted.
