Cylinder block studs.
I have got to the stage of securing the cylinder to the boiler, having spent numerous hours filing to get all the holes to line up. Is there any reason why it would not be a better idea to machine the studs to length before fitting. I have checked the length and with two nuts on a stud on the trial fitting to allow removal in future if necessary there is an excess length of 5mm. Grinding the excess off after fitting seems a bit shoddy. Would be glad of any comments please.

Re: Cylinder block studs.
Sounds to be a plan - as long as you can screw them in ok…
Editing to say you can cut them off quite neatly with a Dremel….

Re: Cylinder block studs.
Hi Tony
You will find that 5 of the studs will need to be almost flush with the top of their nuts.
3 across the front and 2 at the rear, you might have a job on fitting them once cut that short.
Personally I topped the studs after fitting them using a power file.
Check that the holes in the gasket all line up with the boiler, as on the one I got a couple of them were half a hole out.
