Yeehaarr, it worked, so here goes again!
Belly tank in under caot
Tender starting to get sme lines
Hornplates & axle tubes all bolted up
Belly tank in topcoats
Starting to look like something now!
View from the back end
The last picture for now!!
Hope you like what I've done, it's a totally made up colour scheme & design, which I hope will do the engine justice at the end of the day?

Tone's Showmans! & stuff
Now I am able to get pictures up here, I'm going for it now!!
Belly tank to horn plates, quite a job fitting it, without damaging that oh so prescious paint job!
Should be fitting the front end on tomorrow!
This is nothing to do with traction engines, but I have built this too!! (for my daughter.......... yah right!!) This is "SEC" who was the leader of the secret Dalek sect on Skaro, the Dalek home planet! He's helping dry the washing!!
This is Dolphin, which is the most imaculate showmans engine I have ever seen!! I took this picture at a local steam show at Fraser Castle, last year. Dolphin is owned by the same man who also owns Presedent, which I was lucky enough to take all those photos of!!
Another photo of my agricultural engine
This is a 3" /4" (Not quite sure) Fowler Showmans Engine on display at the Alford Transport Musium, just near here, built by the appretices from harwell college...... Beautiful job!!
OK hope you find this little lot interesting.

Tony
I just congratulated Lynn as the first to have a showmans engine on wheels then realised I might be wrong - who was first, was it you or Lynn?
I will let you two sort that out.

Tone's Showman!
Hi All,
Just stopped for a cuppa, so thought I bung up a few more pics of the assembled engine!
This gives a glimps of oak slats on tender floor, knocked up from old floor boards I replaced on a job in the Glen. Also made a similar frame for top left side of belly tank.
Purch bracket & axle all bolted up, just got to shove a drop of paint on the nuts & that's another bit finished.
I can now move this impressive beastie about the workshop now!!
Made up an aluminium plate to cover the axle tube casting.
A closer look of the same thing!
Polished & painted brake wheel.
Now got to decide on pattern, colour & design of lining on wheels. Have to be in "patient mode" for this job, as I think it's going to take "for ever"!!
I think I'm starting to get the hang of this now!!

Hi Tony.
Your cheating . I am at a standstill at work :-(...
Just been looking at your pics. Your fire door handle is looking very shiny. Have you plated it?

Door handle
Hi Lynn,
It's a charmed life I lead, just make it up as I go along!!
Actually, as per my first single cylinder Ag engine, it was my intension to paint after I had assembled the complete project, but due to STW moving factory etc & the delay to manufacturing, I'm keeping my impatience for the next kit at bay, by painting as I assemble this time!! So I'll have lots of opotunity to bash, scratch & chip the paint, as I assemble future bits!!
To answer your question, non of my bear metal has been plated............... yet! It's simply highly polished on the buffing wheel, but I looked with interest at your plating set up, so to preserve the "shine" I will probably give it a go.
I just tried to upload an image but it ain't having it!! (Kin computer!)
Regards
Tony

This is "Dolpins" rear wheel, showing how it's been lined.
And this is the front!! Not a bad job I reackon........... Don't think my lining efforts will be able to compare with such perfection!!

Re: Tone's Showmans second lot!
Tony,
Congratulations! Looks stunnng - really, really good
I made my wood floor for the tender and belly tankfrom oak floorboards same as you. I've also made up an insert that figs into the coal bunker so I can get more coal in as the front is higher than the half height bunker divider.I can then lift the "coat bucket" in and out to clean the inside of the bunker proper. Sad I know!!!
Keep your photo's coming - she looks grand.
Rick

Buff wheel
Hi Lynn,
There are all number of supplier's for buffing wheels.
The photo shows my set up!! It's an 8" wheel on a 6" grinder!! I've removed the left hand guard & abrasive wheel & fitted a "special" spindle sleeve to the grinding machine which is designed to take the buffing wheel. The buffing wheel simple screws on to a "treaded taper" & self locks in place. I think I got the buffing wheel & buffing waxes from Screwfix ( along time ago, so not sure!!). There is two waxes I use, green for steel, brown for non ferrous, you can probably see them on the bench beside the grinder!!
While I'm in "hostin image mode" here's "yet another" photo of my engine.......... with the "blingy" lights on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What fun!!

Re: Tone's Showmans second lot!
Can everyone stop posting pictures, I'm getting depressed .
Seriously, I nice job Tony great finish. The wheels and body are similar in colour to mine. although I am just priming the perch (it will also most be a shame to steam it up).
How did you make the floor, what were the dimensions? As I would like to do the same design.
All the best,
Brian M

Re: Tone's Showmans second lot!
Hi Brian,
One thing to consider when you are doing a slatted floor like Tony's is when you want to remove it to get to the water tank top for maintenance, is ease of removal or you could find it trapped by the water pipes from pump into the tender. When I made mine I decided to cut the the left hand corner out so I can just lift the floor up out of the way to get easy access.
I made mine to fit inside the tender floor nuts, bunker bottom and just over the front edge of the tank.
Hope this helps
Rick

Wooden slatted floor
Hi Brian,
I think Rick beat me to answering your question & he is absolutly right about being able to easily remove the the floor when the engine is finished to allow access to tank top & for cleaning etc. I will cut away the piece of wood that goes behind the pump pipes to allow this, as I have done on my Agricultural engine.
Couple of photos

Paint colour
Hi Dwain,
Sounds like your going to have a very interesting colour scheme on your engine, which I applaud, should stand out in the crowd!!
To answer your question, I used the darkest green I could find in the, wait for it............. Dulux paint cards in B&Q, "Oh the embarressment"!!
I got it mixed in weathersheild gloss, which is a really good paint & gives a lovely shine, however it takes 18 hours to dry so is an absolute bugger for collecting every bit of dust that might pass by till it's dry!! The colour is "TARRAGON GLORY 1" & the code on the card is 90YY07/093.
This colour really compliments the shiny metal work, & everyone who see's my engine compliments the colour scheme, so it's worked well as far as I'm concerned.
Would love to see pics of your engine when you get some paint on it.
Regards

Re: Tone's Showmans second lot!
Hi Tony,
I will post some pictures when I have some paint on metal, I got the idea from looking at engines on different website and canal boats, we have a few canals around us and the colour scheme did sound out but did not look OTT. If my wife saw me she would have gone crazy. When I am in B&Q or any other DIY shop looking at paints for the house my wife will look at all different colour schemes and samples and compares them against each other, always asking for my thoughts which has a response of 'it's okay or yer'. When choosing the colour scheme for the showman it was so intense (from our local canal suppliers shop). I had samples everywhere including colour charts and even Canal Monthly to look which scheme was the best, don't tell my wife if you ever meet her
Thanks for the info
Dwain

Steering kit
Hi All
Just thought I'd hoist a couple of pics while sitting here eating lunch!!
I've taken the engine all to bits again, so as to start fitting the rear cleading & copper man hole finisher!!
I've polished everything to within an inch of its life.......... Typical Showmans mentality!!
The manhole finisher looks fantastic, but is so "shiney" it's "blinding" the camera, so not really a good photo!!
Pics of steering chains etc are in the 4"DCC section!!
Regards

Re: Tone's Showmans second lot!
Hi All,
Been doing a bit more.......... sorted steering & fitting the cylinder!!
Painted the steering gear
All the bits back on the engine!!
Chain shaft & chains all blacked!!
The cylinder all bolted down, foliac everywhere!! (a little out of focus!!)
Having cut down the studs & fitted S/Steel washers & nuts, I'm thinking it don't look right, so will probably go back to painting the whole lot black!!
Not a particularly good picture from the drivers point of view!!
My brother in law popped in this afternoon & was totally amazed at the way this engine is taking shape!!!!!!!......... So a big THANK YOU to STW!!.......... Despite the odd "hick up", things are working out really very well, I'm well pleased!!
