Kits that I have been painted so far..
I thought it would be nice for us to post a few pictures of our progress so far to share with our fellow builders.
I'll start the ball rolling.
Horns/Specticles & Tender not fully painted but certainly well on the way.

Perch and Wheels - completed
[img][/img]
Finished front end. fully painted and ready to roll.

It's a steady process Lynn.
The wheels are really rewarding i've found.
They take some putting together but once you have them painted and stand back and admire them it's really worth the wait.

Re: Kits that I have been painted so far..
Good work so far, been trying to decide wether to line the Hornplates or not.... One side will alomost certainly be invisible under the flywheel etc will it not.. Dont have any photos for reference for the other side. Just my personal opinion but I have painted the front of the forward spectacle plate black and I think it should be lined also??? Tim, perhaps you might know this??

Re: Kits that I have been painted so far..
I would doubt that the front of the spectacle plates would be painted because they are within the RL motion sideplates/cover and cylinder at the front. Hence hardly visible from ground level, so no point making them fancy. They would be flesh red (so as not to show blood - sorry Kev that was a bit near the bone....). On the SC engines the spectacle plate is visible and many were lined out.

re: kits painted so far
Hi Kev,
I painted and lined the front spectacle plate - the photos of "President" that Steve sent out shows the front only as black and lined out.
I agree with the Hornplate lining being covered by the flywheel, but again if you look at the photos you can see the lining.
As it wasn't much trouble to do, I lined them both anyway.
cheers
Rick

Re: Kits that I have been painted so far..
I know the photo of my horn plates shows the front specticle plate in red but I intend to also finish it in black and line it.
I painted it red as it was easier to paint the whole lot while
I was painting the rest and use the extra coat to build
Up a good finish.
As for the flywheel side. You can see the lining at the front which then disappears under the flywheel.

Re: Kits that I have been painted so far..
I suspect that the lining is only over the top edge, where it can be seen form ground level, unlike the case with some of the SC engines where it is on all edges.
Will be interesting to have a look at some of the other SRL(S)s at GDSF.

Re: Kits that I have been painted so far..
Thinking about it a bit more, I'll probably have the motion support bracket and everything towards the cylinders from the front spectacle plate black: it's easier to clean!
