Belly tank bracket bolts Empty Belly tank bracket bolts

it would seem that we have suplied rivet bolts for the belly tank support plates that are a little too short (hornplate kit)Embarassed

as it was me that put this part of the control model together i guess this is my fault, sorry. i should have called for a longer bolt to be used pale

we will be sending out replacement "longer" bolts, probably in the belly tank kit. all hornplate kits still in the factory will be changed.

thanks to greystones for the tip off Cool

I noticed they were really short but I didn't question that you might have actually put the wrong bolts in the box.!?

I fitted them with nut lock and managed to tighten them enough to be satisfied.
The bolts only went half way through the nut when tightened fully.
I've then filled in the back machined bit of the plate where the nuts sit with metal filler.

I'm sure they will be fine but if your going to send out new bolts i'll need new nuts too.

probably best i change them as i wouldn't want the tank falling off on a road run !!!!affraid

cheers

Nick

I too have fiitted and threadlocked them in place and have also sprayed them!!!!!!!!!!! Send me the nuts too and I'll see if I can muster up the enthusiasm to undo, clean up, sand down, respray them or not. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
With 14 on each side I dont think theyll come off.

Honey roast please..

Must admit i've got a coat of red oxide plus two coats of undercoat to cut back before i even think of taking them off but i'd rather take the trouble than have the bolts fail later on..

From an engineering view poimt do you think the shorter ones would have sufficient strength?

is it possible to send out the replacement nuts and bolts with the next kit. (3)

i'm currently in the middle of painting the hornplates and have had to hold off finishing them until i re-fit the brackets.

cheers

we have had to order the correct length of bolt and to be honest im not sure if they are in yet.

we had decided to send them out in an envelope as soon as we got them rather than put them in another kit. this saves us messing around with kit contents and we can change any horn-plate kits still in stock.

however, with the next kit due out next week it might actually be just as quick to include them with it. i'll chase it up Cool
