Lykamobile .. Does it need to go through an IVA?
Hi All.
Just pondering and thinking through the forthcoming Lykamobile build. I have had a couple of Kit cars and had to put one through the IVA test. It passed first time. But there were a lot of things to watch out for so as not to fall foul of the regulations. But does a Steam vehicle, and a replica vintage one at that, fall under the full rigour of the IVA test regime? Will it need a full set of road legal lights? Do we need a speedometer? Seat belts? It may be that the Lycamobile does not need an individual vehicle assessment? if so, why not?

Re: Lykamobile .. Does it need to go through an IVA?
More than one Likamobile builder has been successful in registering his car as an agricultural vehicle. This works if you can convince the powers that be that your Likamobile won't do more than X Mph (I forget which number it is). So in that case, no IVA is necessary.
An alternative could be registering it as a quadricycle. More information halfway down this posting.

As far as I was aware you simply register it as a Steam Powered Vehicle and it doesn't need any of that? Very simple like a miniature?

Just out of interest what is the procedure/cost of renewing the steam test certificate?
