Rear spectical plate

Hi...has anyone else gone to all the trouble of painting and fitting the rear spectial plate only to find that to hole that the sight glass pipe passes through is to small for that to happen ?. It beats me how these little but very frustrating issues get past the control model stage. It's going to be a real pain as the only answer I see is to remove the plate....enlarge the hole and repaint. Thoughts people.

Hi Pitpup, I haven't got that far yet,but hope I don't have the same problem.
Like you, Iv'e had a few problems that you would think should of been picked up with the building of the test engine.
I guess the problems come about, when they modify components or change the size of piping that the test model didn't have.
It is very annoying and frustrating when it happens.

Been there, done that! Mine was the same, I only discovered it after paiting and fitting it. I did manage to enlarge th hole without too much damage to the paintwork so I just touched up he paint around the hole.

It's hard to get into with the sight glass support in place...that also is painted so font really want yo remove it.

I did remove the spectacle plate for drilling. By the way I bought a step drill to enlarge the hole as I believe it is quite hard to get a true round hole with a normal twist drill in thin plate material. Good luck!

Step drill or cone drill, depending on what size hole you want. Step drills I've only seen in 2mm increments, cone drills give all sizes, albeit the thicker the plate the more noticeable the taper

About to fit the plates, etc. together.
Seems worth enlarging hole now - by how much do you suggest?

Are you sure that the holes need enlarging? I thought that mine would need it after reading some of the probs. My pipework fitted with no hole enlarging at all. Maybe depending on the batch??
