Tender water level gauge Empty Tender water level gauge

I am thinking of installing a rod type water level gauge on my tender, would anyone be able to post a photo of one installed that shows the best location. As I haven't got all the pipe work that attaches to the tender, I don't want to put it in the wrong place.

Thanks

Think my thread shows mine someplace.

Well it is actually at the divider for the coal bunker and on the off side of the tender directly above the injector water supply filter. It is a float on a flexi pvc rod in a ss pipe. This keeps it out of the way of firing etc so I do not catch it. Also when the float hits the fitting for the injector water feed I get a positive Need water NOW. As at this point there is about 1" of water over the top of the feed pipes.

Some have it in line astern of the pipework for the mechanical pump.

Thank you Lynn,
I was thinking that would be the obvious location, just wanted to check with other owners.

I position mine in line with the water pump pipes. I used a couple of brass car brake hose connectors male and female these have a hole through, which would have held the brake pipe, but is ideal for a length of aluminium rod with a small knob on the top and the float made out of closed cell foam. The stuff that was used as packing in one of the deliveries. Pictures are in my build thread somewhere.

Best wishes
