double seat
Hi everyone,
Been thinking about seating for my engine
what are the experiences with the engine with the twin seat with two people
on the engine, does it handle ok , does the front go light at all, thinking about fitting
one and wanted some feedback please.
Thanks
Kev

Re: double seat
No problem with the showman's, obviously. I think it depends on the size of your driver & steersman for the RL.

Re: double seat
Thanks Tim
Need some input from the road loco chaps , im not a heavyweight at about 70kg so should be a good start.
would be good to have a rough idea of a maximum weight on the seat before things start to go a bit light.
Thanks
Kev

Re: double seat
I remember Brian having an issue with Blackbeard when he and Declan sat on the double seat.

Re: double seat
As most people who have met met me at any of last years rallies know I run almost exclusively with a double seat and have had very few problems. Very occasionally on grass I have felt the steering lighten but not to any real extent, Andy and I have had lighter steering when on single seats each towing due the the load. I weigh 12st 7 and I dont know Andys but without wanting to insult him in any way I think he is heavier than me, possibly by a couple of stone (Sorry Andy if I'm overdoing that.... ) and I have given lifts especially at Dorset to various bods of different sizes without any dramas. Hope that helps.
Re: double seat
Thanks Kev,
Seems the double seat option is viable for the road loco too
Thanks for the info

Re: double seat
Whoa!!!!!! Andy and Kev might want to update their comments after the coming weekend
Dec is a big lad now and with both of us on pulling hard up a good hill we were starting to lift in top!!!! Most situations I think it is OK but even sitting on the back, if the second person sits down hard the front bounces. Let us provide an updated status after the weekend. Really looking forward to having the Andy and Kev up in Lancashire to tackle some proper hills.

Re: double seat
I dont remember saying anything about lighting up!!! Have you booked sun.... Us soft southern bas**rds cant cope with cool northern temperatures....
Re: double seat
Kev
The sun was booked and we are now all sunburn because were not used to it up her.
I hope you will update your earlier post with regard to the double seat and front wheels lifting with two adults on - with no reference to who was on with you I think if you had not lit up on the day I am sure you would have been most disappointed once the uphill section of our little run unfolded before you.

Re: double seat
I will add that on the hill climb with myself and one of the twins wives with me the steering did lighten up in places but not to the extent that it caused a major drama and not to the point of actually loosing steering control although it was close on a couple of spots. Otherwise on the downhill sections and the flat main road it was absolutely fine. I think its far to say it was not designed for two but it is certainly feasible depending on the size of the passengers and that I would advise people to use their own common sense when they experience their own particular circumstances.
As for the HILL....... There are actually two like that nearby, Goodwood and Duncton, I'll never have the chance of taking the engine up them but at least I know it will ROMP up it...
What an awesome weekend, I am collecting my thoughts and will post shortly.
