G'day from accross the ditch in NZ.

I think you will find that because the boiler is professionally built, tested and certified the aussy code doesn’t necessary apply. All your club inspector should need to is accept the boiler as built and witness a steam accumulation test on completion of the model. Very Happy

Regards

I've been in a deep dive with this.

my understanding is that my AMBSC inspector WILL NOT accept or test the boiler as it is, and a read of the code pretty well makes it a non-conformer.
that's not because it's a bad boiler per se. it's pretty solid and I imagine, pretty excellent. the AMBSC code is set in legislation tho, so it's pretty well immovable. it has girder stays, which are pretty well outlawed, and a seam along the top of the firebox crown. it has solid firebox stays, without telltales, and several other details that won't pass.

so, I've talked to a few people, and it seems what will happen, if I can make it, is that we will design a boiler that conforms, using materials from the STW if I can, (barrel, Firehole, mudhole, and fittings and mounting brackets) and get the rest laser cut and welded here by a code welder. if this is something Dean and Will can sort out for me, then I'm happy to get a boiler made here in Queensland.

will keep this up to date.

Emma
