Kit 02 Problem
Hello everyone and Happy New Year. I received most of my kits a coulple of weeks ago as one lot as Australia is so far away and freight costs are high. I have so far completed the front wheels minus the tyres and today thought I would have a look at kit 2. Everything fits except the BU40207 retaining collars on the axle. The holes for the pins don't line up with flats of the collars on the outside but are very close when the collars are reversed with the flats on the inside but the pins will still not fit without filing a flat on the head of the pin. What have I done wrong? Has anyone come across this problem or can they help? Regards Phil

Upload to something like photobucket.com and use the link option to display them in the thread.

Kit 2 Problem
I am having trouble with uploading pics so I have e-mailed some to STW so hopefully they can help. The bronze bushes could be the problem. Regards Phil

Look in the owner picture thread. You will find an explanation on how to upload.

Thanks Lynn. I tried that (Julia's post) but I don't get any picture when I hit preview. Will try again.

Kit 2 problem
Finally worked it out, didn't click on upload. Computers and I don't get on. Unfortunately as I am a new member I cannot post external content or e-mails for 7 days from joining up on 1st Jan. Will have to wait until the weekend. Thank's anyway. Phil

Re: Kit 02 Problem
If they are on an external site, if you email or PM me the links I'll post them up for you if you wish.
I had a problem with my bushes on the Showmans as they were holding the wheel two far over on the axel to get the retaining pins in. I looked at various ways over it and decided it was easier to adjust the bearing. But once we see the photos we may have a better idea.

Kit 2 Problem
Steve replied to my e-mail and informed me that the wheel bearings were not fully in which was completely correct. I put the bearings in and they fitted so easily by hand that I locked them in with retainer without pushing them into the outer covers leaving them proud and thought no more about it until I tried to fit the wheels on the axle. All fixed today though and onwards with the build. I am so impressed with the workmanship quality of the kits, they are spot on and am looking forward to completing my first engine. Thanks Rob and Lynne for your help and if I can produce something that is half as good as yours and others on the forums I'll be happy, they are amazing machines and are a credit to you all. Now I know how to upload photo's I'll send some when I progress further.

Re: Kit 02 Problem
Tassie,
You are not alone, I did exactly the same thing on the LH bearing myself, luckliy I realised that the bearing had not fully entered into the wheel hub compared to the RH bearing, it was not easy to get it moving again tho, as like you I had also loctited the bloody thing in !!!!
However all sorted now and both wheels turning nicely !!

Hi Frostie
Glad I wasn't the only one. I think the trick is to go slowly and not get too excited !! Whis is hard to do sometimes.
Cheers Phil
