Engine Studs
Can anyone explain to me what the two extra long engine studs are for in kit 10?
They have a short thread at one end and a long thread at the other.
Cheers

Studs!
I think you'll find they are for the left hand crank bearing. When STW machine this, they clamp the bearing holder parts together with a pair socket headed screws which are exchanged for the studs you have found. Looks more like the real thing, then!!!

Same conclusion here
Hi
I was also puzzled by the studs until I looked at the right as it had the nut and 1/2 nut arrangement. So copied that.

Re: Engine Studs
My only issue is when I put the studs in they go so far in I cant get the lock nut on the top, so have to turn them out a few threads and then they're loose......?? Should I loctite them??
engine studs
Not good engineering practice to leave them loose and use loctite.
Lets hope STW supply some the correct length !!!!!
My studs are the same .

Re: Engine Studs
yes, i can confirm that the studs are to replace the cap heads in the LH bearing housing.
yes, they are too short and yes we will be sending out replacements (apparently it only affects the first 20 kits to go out).
also someone needs their arse kicking for putting the control model together with incorrect fastenings

Not sure what my "Build Number" is but my studs are also short.

Re: Engine Studs
yeah, you will get them as well lynn. mike keeps a good record of what everybody does and does not get so that we can get the right things to the right people eventually
gotta put our hands up on this one and admit that the control model was not put together with as much care as it should have been. if it happens again I'll be throwing things at someones head
