New boy and a 4" Showman's Empty New boy and a 4" Showman's

Post  Nigel Sat 31 Oct 2020, 12:10 pm

Hi, Well having built a couple of 5" and a 7 1/4" loco thought I would look at a Traction engine, In the Early 80's as an apprentice i helped build a 4" fowler showman's engine, now with some time and the resources thought I would visit STW and see what it's all about.
Visited yesterday with the wife, Was shown around the works and showroom by Dean, Must say very impressed all questions answered and a new 4" Showman's ordered,
First kit is due in January,
Must say impressed with the forum with all the help and advice, sure i will be asking questions. Very Happy

Regards

Nigel

Hello Nigel,

welcome on board.
Should any questions arise please post the question here in the forum. Whenever I had a problem during my build plenty of support was given to sort out the issue.

Have fun with kit 1

Cheers

Hi Nigel,

should be:

High Pressure Bore: 2.28" (58mm)
Low Pressure Bore: 3.75" (95mm)
Stroke: 3.94" (100mm)

according to an old post I found: https://traction.forumotion.com/t165-4-burrell-scenic-showmans-pricing-and-technical-information

Hope that helps.

Cheers
